A monotub is the automated setup. If you've done more than put a few holes in it, you've un-automated it.
No, don't case after first flush. By then, the substrate surface is covered with nasty shit. All a casing does at that point is trap them and provide optimal conditions to wreak havoc on your ENTIRE OPERATION!!!!!!

Please tell me you didn't buy one of these $150 "automated" monotubs off of Etsy.

A monotub is fully automatic. If you try to make it automated it becomes less automated

Yeah, it's even got a painted "liner"
Oh it gets better, I'm in the wrong business.
Fully automatic martha promising minimum 4lb harvest?
 $780.
HEPA filtered flowhood?
 $170 The "HEPA"

It boggles my mind that they've sold at LEAST 7 of the monotubs (Based on the reviews, I dunno how many more then that)
Welcome to the shitshow.

thanks all for the useful feedback. Yes, I bought one of those kits, as a beginner and it was specifically for PF Tek, which I've modified for my purposes of my first bulk grow(taped holes for substrate colonization, then un-taped for fruiting. Pulled first harvest, plentiful but small, I attribute this to not having enough depth(2"or so). Ive rehydrated, poured off excess. Am I good to go for consequent flushes? Thanks again for taking the time and please forgive my noobism.

There's a couple potential reasons for smaller fruits, such as genetics, low moisture content, low light, etc. It's impossible to say either way at this point, though.
Yes, you should be good to go after your dunk, although you need to make sure there's no resting/pooling water. You can tell easier in subs without a liner so inspect the bottom/sides of the sub along the tote and make sure you've removed all the excess water.
Hard to tell, but it looks like you cracked your sub?
