Golden Teacher Progress
    #27055044 - 11/24/20 09:57 AM (1 month, 23 days ago)

Hello!

First timer here. I have some questions about my current grow progress for anyone who has experience. This is also the first time I’ve ever grown mushrooms of any kind.

Is this looking okay? I’m worried that it’s sort of lumpy but I’m not sure if this is normal for GTs or not.

What I’ve done so far:

- golden teacher liquid syringe culture
- organic brown rice spawn in 10x 1/2 pint jars
- left in SAB for ~1 week, shook, then 1 week until fully colonized
- spawn to bulk coir (pasteurized) with a 1:1 ratio
- liberally misted the top with pure water
- no verm so no casing layer
- left lid on shoe boxes until complete colonization ~1.5 weeks
- after full colonization, I flipped the lids and started introducing light. 12 hrs on 12 hrs off.
- air temp is around 73-75 f around shoe boxes
- fanning them 2 times a day
- pictures are from today and about 2 days into introducing fruiting conditions

I’m basically following PhillyGoldenTeacher on YT to a “T”
I would love any questions, comments or suggestions you can give me.

Thank you!
GoombaGuy

Looks great to me  Lumpyness might have something to do with how mush you smoothed the coir surface when preparing the tub. Smoothing it is important and good idea to prevent side pinning to, strangely enough.
But yeah you got the small water droplets and all, which means moisture/humidity should be good.

Also about you putting in so much effort, I can tell you the idea of a well dialed in monotub is that you can pretty much leave it without any misting and fanning for weeks and weeks. Maybe do a dunk after a harvest, but otherwise the lid should be cracked so slightly that not so much moisture escapes. And as I told you the droplets are a good indicator, if they're still there no need to mist. And also cubes are much more low FAE tolerant than edibles like shitaake or oysters so they really dont need a tub thats open very far, I often grew with "fuzzy feet" which supposedly means not enough FAE/too much moisture, but always woirked just fine for me in this not so extreme version of it.

I have very similar looking mycelium in my monotub, also Golden teacher and first grow. I put it in fruiting conditions a little over 2 weeks ago and I still see no pins, is this normal? Am I just being impatient?

Yeah patience, these things take time. Been going very slow with grain jars colonizing for 6 weeks and all, thats how it is sometimes.

Stay strong! It’s at least relieving to know that ours look very similar. Must be doing something right!
