2 months old ALT#7

These two jars are 2 months old ALT#7 from the same agar, made the same day using same rye, sterilized at the same time, basically identical in every sense. Yet they turned out different. Any Idea?

Both of those jars are thoroughly contaminated and you're seeing different looks perhaps because of having introduced different contaminant spores into each since it's two separate processes inoculating two jars :shrug: or maybe the grain wasn't properly sterilized? It could depend on several different factors. Maybe if you describe your methods it will become more apparent where the contam vector was. Gl

The left is bacterial (I think) the right is yeast. I bet the bacterial one makes stones anyway, or you could fruit it. The yeast one is compost.

I know nothing about atl or tamps or whatever but isn't the one on the left stones and the other mycelium? Did you choose different mycelium or something? Idk

Like others suggest, the one on the right could be heavily contaminated, mycelium is usually much more dense than that..

The left side looks good to go from the pic, I would take caution on opening the jar on the right in the house..
