Wow this place has changed! I love all the new discussion rooms that have been added. I've been away from the OMC probably 15 years. Are there any members here that used to belong to the old "forest floor" or "the Donkey" mushroom forums? They were spin offs of the old drool donkey forum. I don't know if any of you even have ever heard of them as they were a long time ago. Anyway, I used to moderate at the Donkey. I just wanted to introduce myself maybe contribute something to this platform. My first contribution will be to recommend that no one buy anything from www.mushroomprints.com they sent me 4 syringes full of water with no Spores in them. I complained and they they sent replacements which look be just sterile water again. Knowing you can't always see the spores I tested the lovely gourmets syringes on agar and grain to no avail. I will test the new ones they just sent but I'm not getting my hopes up. I'll keep you updated. If the New syringes actually produce a result I will recant this.

Welcome back! Sorry you had a bad experience with your spore guy. Is it possible that you just aren't seeing the spores? Sometimes the syringes are very clear and hard to tell

Sorry I was editing my post, where I added that I know I can't always see the spores so I tested it on rye and agar with no results. They sent me new syringes that arrived today and I can't see any spores again but I will test them on agar. I usually deal with sporeworks but these people are out of Canada and I thought they might have different genetics. I'll keep you updated if these news syringes produce results.

Always purchase spores from the shroomery sponsor page.
How long did you wait for the spores to go? I've noticed that that is the slowest part of the process.

I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt because I could not see any spores however three different strains and no results except maybe three bags that I'm trying to decide whether or not it's mycelium mold. If it is mycelium, it is very weak. I'm praying that all my bags are not contaminated. My sterile technique was flawless. I know it goes against my better judgment but I'm thinking about re sterilizing every one of these bags the old 25x,then break out the lc and try again but it's probably just a waste of time. I have never worked with re sterilized grain. To top it off I just got a case of outgrow bags that was damaged and it looks like they may be contaminated to. It's my first time dealing with them I'm sure they didn't send it out damaged but it came to me that way.

People have had lots of issues with pre ordered bags. This hobby is best when its as DIY as possible. When you outsource stuff that you can make on your own, you are likely to get an inferior product and be unable to diagnose issues with the grain prep process. Go back to making jars, pf tek is still very reliable but agar and grain jars are well worth learning. Wild Bird Seed is like $20-$30 for a gigantic bag

Thank you for the reply like I said I was just being lazy but I have been doing this for a long time ,jars and mycobags. I just thought I'd try Outsourcing for a change. The bags were all perfectly fine until I inoculated them with these crappy syringes but I get your piont.

Ok they sent me four new syringes. I inoculated each syringe to Agar and every syringe was contaminated. I observed streams of bacteria from where the spore solution ran on the agar. One plate had some mycl growth mixed with lots of bacteria and Greenies. Of the 25 bags I inoculated with the first set of syringes, only five took out of the three species. Would not recommend this company to anyone. I would post pictures but for some reason the option won't allow me to
