Oh shit I thought we were talking about the 7# handle . I’ve only ever tried the 11 blades but I’ve heard good things about 15# blades for agar to agar. They’re better for small precise cuts I think

thats dope. could make a little hinge to cover the front too!
ya it wont get too hot its only the scaple that gets hot other then the "inner workings" far below.
I think preventing having to come in and out of the SAB FAR outways any convenction current from scaple. super smart.
heat up knives real nice too.. or ti nails for mellenials.

I'm going to have a cover connected with a hinge that flips up or magnets on all of the corners that pops off. Got a footswitch coming too.

That looks awesome. Does it only heat on contact with the scalpel blade, or is it always just running hot?

Seems as you gotta push a button on the inside

I have a waterproof switch on the inside, I'm going to test a footswitch and see what feels better.

It does seem safer in some ways. I usually do laminar work bare ass naked. Everytime I torch my scalpel I think, " one of these days I'm going to drop a hot razor right on my twig and berries".

Neato Burrito. Look forward to the specs. Love a practical gadget. Any chance of a pic of power source?
This defeats the original purpose, but I imagine you could make a free standing design? Seems like it would be nice to have instead of a torch, especially once the foot switch is worked out.

This is an awesome tool. Reminds me of the bacteria incinerators we used for our inoculation loops in my microbiology labs.

Pretty cool but it's horrendously overpriced compared to a torch.

A buddy of mine just sent me a pic of your build from facebook. Dont have a fb so not sure if cross posts between here and fb can lead to identity issues but I'd be careful anyway.
Nice build regardless!

I don't think it would cost more than $50 to build. A torch is cheap but fuel adds up over time and running out mid work sucks. I'd love to build one of these hooked up to a foot pedal or something I could hit with my knee.
