2nd Flush P.E.: Am I picking too soon?

One batch looks beautiful. This one on the other hand, despite the size, are discolored (not too concerned) but they’ve appeared to stop growing. Some of them closer to the FAE holes the caps have already dried. I know it takes longer than other strains bu should my buddy wait or just pick now?

Looks like a fairly bad pseudomonas infection taking over there.
Truth is, if you dehydrate the fruits properly they are probably safe to eat, but I would ditch most if not all of them ...you can always grow more
Pseudomonas (commonly called bacterial blotch) spreads extremely easily - don't mist those tubs whatsoever and ditch them ASAP... then clean everything including your mist bottles with a diluted bleach solution
good luck
edit :
here's some pseudomonas threads for more info

My buddy ate a couple grams and was fine but I know that might not be the common consensus.,.

It's like sh4adow says, you might be fine eating them. but I wouldn't want to give bacterial infected mushrooms to anyone. I'd rather grow some more... you'll have to decide that for yourself.

This is helpful info, thanks for sharing because my buddy has NEVER had this happen.
So here are some before and after pics. Dried they look good, aside from a couple black spots (which I’m ignorant of). I read if hydrated correctly it kills bacteria. Is this true? What are your thoughts just based on pics?

Probably. I think that it may depend on the temp tho.
I run my dehydrator at 165°F, which is also the safe temp for cooking meat, so I feel pretty confident about it killing bacteria. I'm not sure about lower temps, however. If in doubt, you can always make tea and boil away all the nasties.

Mine heats at 165• as well!! They look good to me but this is his first attempt at this strain. 100% succeeds on others.
Also He can’t get a clear image of when to pick them. I’ve seen Some where there was a large growth underneath the cap. However, the veils have long been broken and he kno with other kinds they should have already been picked. If I let them continue to grow, even with the caps folding backwards, will that growth on the stem eventually get there?

Your buddy is one sloppy muthafucka... that is the filthiest tub I’ve ever seen. I’m assuming his room is disgusting with jizz all over his chairs and comforter
I have a cousin like that

Well my friend, you can make any assumptions you decide to make. But one thing I can say: my room is immaculate. I have very very good success rate. Every time. My room is my room. This has never happened in my room. There’s at least 10 other tubs in there without this issue. This is the first and only time this has ever happened.
I’m here to try to get information about the safety Of these for my buddy lol So he can decide whether or not he can share these little rotten babies with others, SAFELY, (tea?). I’m not here for Any other reason. So young man, your assumption is incorrect, Yet you can continue to believe it if you choose to. That’s your choice. The conversation I’m trying to have has nothing to do with my room. Methods techniques whatever. I’m here for a different reason, which is the aforementioned questioning.

it's a common mistake that killing the bacteria through dehydration or boiling solves the problem. molds and bacteria produce byproducts which can be toxic and don't necessarily break down with dehydration or boiling. so do your 'buddy' a favour and throw the mushrooms out. if your succes rate is as you say it is, help him out with delicious fresh mushrooms and try again until you have contamination free PE.

The most well known result of this is botulism.

I’m not here to comment on whether you should eat them or not, it seems you’ve gotten lots of advice on that already, but as to your original question, you harvested a little early. PE veils break early and often grow completely with the veil detached starting from pin. PE is ready when they get a wrinkly growth on the stipe underneath the cap, like this:

Thank you so much for that, seriously! I know that was my original question but I am glad that I learned about the bacterial infection, because I’ve never had that happen. So back to the original question, how do these look? I can’t tell if they’re wrinkly or not.
