First Trip - 1g Liberty Caps
    #27053530 - 11/23/20 08:02 AM (3 years, 2 months ago)

It was my first trip to the inner landscape, with a dear friend who was an experienced psyconaut sitting with me.

I fasted that day and took one gram (38) of dried locally picked liberty caps at 6pm. I ground them to a fine powder in a spice grinder, steeped them in the fresh juice of half a lemon for 20 minutes and then diluted and consumed them with orange juice. My sitter was of the opinion that to do it right I had to chew them whole and he thought this ‘modern’ way of doing things was a bit dubious! I felt no nausea

We started my chosen music playlist and I lay on several sheepskins on the floor, I gradually became aware of a high frequency vibrational energy spreading up my arms and legs over about 40 minutes. It centered on my heart and intensified. Rainbow sparks appeared behind my closed eyes and then a wave broke over me, the mushroom energy swept me up and carried me into a new reality.

I felt a blurring of my edges, of my consciousness, my body, the sheepskins I lay on and the music. There was still definition if I thought about it, and so I chose not to. The music flowed through me and I flowed through it, together we were an organic kaleidoscope that pulsed and shimmered and morphed into indescribable forms and colors. It was intense and sensuous. It was like all of my years of ecstatic dance distilled down into one infinitesimal but timeless moment. It was as if for the first time I really truly understood music.

I consciously opened my heart and mind as wide as I was able and fully surrendered to the mushrooms’ will. I felt deep connection, although there was still an 'I' as a witness to it. I felt completely open heartedness to the experience, to life, to others, to everything. My world bent and warped, everything flowed and occasionally human faces appeared amongst the music and went upon their way. A bat, a small green elf-like being and a cat visited me, although no information was exchanged it was as if they came to check on how I was.

About an hour and a half in I began to feel that despite how wonderous this all was it was a rather hedonistic experience and so I turned my intention from being in the moment and in the music to going deeper within myself, which was my original intention. I asked my sitter to change the music from ambient electronic to ethereal. Chants and mantras filled my being and then the Moola Prayer coalesced my dissolved essence around my heart and time stood still.

After about two and a half hours the ethereal music ended and silence and stillness held me. In the candlelight I played a slow tribal rhythm on my deerskin drum, but it was not my drum, it was the moon! I struck my Tibetan singing bowl and held it to my forehead (third eye) and to my heart chakra, the complex sound vibrations were intense and felt deeply centering and grounding and yet incredibly expansive. I had a deep feeling of connection with my previous, lapsed Buddhist practice, and indeed I had the feeling that this experience was a practice also. I spontaneously made a shrine from the candles and my Buddha rupa (statue) in the center of the cleared TV stand and I sat before it focusing on my breathing. Just being, without the complexity and chaos of everyday life. Aware of my insignificance and inconsequence at a universal level, I sat in what I can only describe as a state of divine grace. And I wept. With joy and with sorrow. For nothing and for everything. For myself and for all beings.

The effects of the mushrooms slowly passed and by about four and a half hours in I was back in the room. My sitter provided snacks and soup. We sat in silence, we talked, I shared my experience, he said he had much gratitude to have been able to accompany me on my first journey as, in his words, it felt profound for him also.

I went to bed and slept for eight hours that night and awoke feeling calm, centered, grounded, whole and in balance. I drank tea in the garden, the trees and the plants were really beautiful that morning, the colours were bright despite the cloudy grey skies, raindrops glistened on the grass, birds sang and a delicate gentle fine rain fell.

After a morning of integration I gently drove to the coast and walked to a secluded bay, where the sea, surf and beach were particularly exquisite in the drizzle. I foraged along the tideline, finding a natural heart-shaped piece of quartz at the far end of the beach that encapsulated everything. And I mean everything. I sat beneath the cliff on a rock, sheltered from the drizzle and drank tea. I had a sense of deep clarity and of peace. The anxiety around covid-19, life, work and relationship had fallen away, and remain so as I write this three days later.

All is well in the world

Thank you ZenZone, it was quite an extraordinary experience and after reading other trip reports I wasn't expecting to go as deeply as I did on only 1g. I think the set and setting really facilitated it to unfold the way it did and also lemon tek on a really fine grind of the liberty caps really helped the efficient uptake of the psilocybin.

I'm rather looking forward to upping the dose in the next couple of weeks

I think you are absolutely right. Lemon tek, fine grind, set and setting... all of it.
Good job doing your homework / due diligence prior the trip.
