agar2agar transfer?

This my first time attempting with agar. I have recently inoculated a couple plates with spore syringe and have two healthy-looking plates with good growth. I inoculated about 2-2 1/2 weeks ago. A couple questions...
Do I need to transfer to another plate before putting to grain, if so when should I do the transfer?
Also, had a couple plate with bacteria and healthy growth, should I transfer the healthy growth to a new plate (so far its kinda overlapping with contams/bacteria?

Hey there! I just got into agar this year so I'm no expert but for germination plates my general advice is to transfer as soon as you see healthy mycelium (Generally about a dime size) away from the germination plate that usually has some contaminates.
If you look at Pic #3 you can see some slime mold or something in the upper right sector. take a small grain sized transfer from a couple healthy sections (check the bottom to see if the myc has grown over a contam) and move it to a new plate and mark them T.1 For transfer 1 and continue until you have a clean dish w/ healthy genetics.
Hope this helped

Welcome to the coolest medium in mycology 👍 yes you should transfer to another plate. Select a sample of rhizomorphic growth from the plate furthest away from the contams. Up to 2 transfers may b necessary b4 you have a clean plate but it's that simple. Namaste 🕉️🙏

thanks for the feedback and the lead. Lots to learn, really excited to be using agar now. Can't believe I wasn't using this method from the beginning!
