Maybe a community initiative can get started to donate a Shroomery water well to a community of 500-1500 people.
That would be very awesome, it would be ready around christmas time and a whole village has a safe water hookup this way. It is a fact that this helps a village develop itself because suddenly 100s of people dont have to haul water for 6 hours and can either go to school if they're kids and work in other ways such as a vegetable garden if they're adults. It isnt just that you provide SAFE water that saves a few lives and a LOT of illness every year, but the water is NEARBY so that the endless water hauling is over.
Watch this, its another org but to show you what it in fact means for a village:
And you can literally build more than 3 wells for 1 krugerrand

Thats $100 volunteered at the drop of a hat, I think we can make 600 with ease if not 1200 if it were to be a community effort.
Anyone want to kick off a thread about it?
I don't think Ythan or Geokills would object to a 1 year supporter account being handed to everyone pitching in $50 or over.
Maybe we could use one of the spiffy new Shroomery logos as the sign.
€100 in itself is enough to donate 640 tetanus shots + 240 polio vaccines, or 4 chicken families (1 rooster + 4 hens) which would typically go to 4 orphanages so that they can convert bags of corn to eggs and meat, high protein foods, for the kids and chicks and chickens for trade.

I don't have much experience with this kind of thing. What is the best way for everyone to donate?

If this really gets off the ground, maybe a publically accessible GoFundMe where money is pooled, then having it transferred to the charity to be convertent to water well(s) and/or whatever we decide on with the change.
Theres all sorts of stuff thats donatable, from a €4 soccer ball to a €6500 orphanage for 50 kids and their caretakers.

Asante is the most eloquent and persuasive. I vote that he create the thread.
Asante, would it be possible to make the thread a sticky so that it is at the top of the forum?

Man, what little bitches people can be. Can't even figure out how to control your mood and perspective...

And I hate to say it, but if you find it to be a hell, that's because you are awful at controlling your brain.

I don't know if you read the entire thread, but it has been turned into an effort to provide clean drinking water to a third world community. Would you be interested in helping out?

While I do donate monthly to a missionary who is teaching farming in Zambia, good idea. Glad you asked me directly, because I did read it and still didn't realistically consider it.
Being what appears to be the only person who has actually made far more money due to COVID, I should.
How much should I donate?

That is entirely up to you. I am personally willing to donate 50 bucks. Any little bit counts. We haven't even figured out exactly how we are going to do this just yet.
How much are you willing to donate? Is 50 a reasonable amount? It would certainly help our cause gain some traction.

$50 seems like a perfect number.
Excellent idea. And what a fantastic turnaround for this thread lol

I would try to have some compassion. We don't know what OP has been through. It's possible he is a war veteran who has seen some shit - maybe something fucked up happened to him or a family member like rape or abuse. If you've never had to work your way out of a dark hole, then you are very lucky. No need to call someone a bitch because they are suffering.

I have definitely had to work through some real shit. We all have. Some of course worse than others.
Eh, I got compassion but when you are presented with an opportunity to help people like Asante did and you come back with his response... You are being a bitch. Pure and simple. No patience for that shit.

I understand his response. It wasn't ideal, but I understand it. If I was deeply depressed and angry and I was screaming out for help, I'd probably be annoyed by Asante's post. No words of compassion or understanding or "It's going to be okay, man..." but instead "Hey, I just spent a bunch of money on a tribe in Africa - be more like me" - he probably sees it as less of an opportunity than a big Fuck You - also he probably responded that way because he doesn't have a bunch of cash to spend - I can only assume here so I could be wrong about that. What Asante did was great, really great, and I will probably donate if this becomes an official thing but if I was deeply depressed I don't think I'd have it in me to do that for someone else. OP has to learn self-love first I think.

I looked at Asante's post again and it was pretty compassionate. I do however still understand the response.
