First timer here
    #27046816 - 11/19/20 08:22 AM (2 months, 7 days ago)

I’ve been relying on YouTube other people’s pictures and numerous guides. But I keep doubting myself on my first tub. I let it colonize an extra day after adding the substrate and when I went in this morning I saw some yellow exudate ( or what I think is that). I’m going to attach pictures.  I plan on laying down my casing later today. I don’t see any baby pins on the surface yet. So I guess my questions are. Is this liquid an issue and what can I do to solve it?  And when I’m laying down my casing layer should I be waiting to see some sort of pins before I even think about casing it?  I’m also probably forgetting questions so if I have more thanks for being here yall

The yellow fluid is called metabolites. They are the digestive enzymes of cubes.

They are used on a microscopic scale for digestion, when it builds up and pools like that its a good indicator that there is bacteria in your sub.

You can soak it up with a paper towel or just toss your casing over it, shouldn't make a difference either way.

When to case is entirely preference.

You can case right away or wait a few days.

If you're growing cubensis a casing in such a tub is more of a risk then it does good to the yield (that is in my experience). If you want to get casing experience it makes sense ofcourse, but if your just looking for a good yield fruiting without one is also fine
You can even still add it after the first flush.

Goodluck!

Read all the TEKs experiment and decide what works best for you. Grows of B+ and GT I found that casings didn’t really help at all.

Weather or not a casing is beneficial to you depends largely on your environment.
Mine is incredibly dry and there is a clear difference when I case

All that being said a top layer of coir at spawn often works just as well
