German equivalent to Gypsum please.
    #27050557 - 11/21/20 01:39 PM (4 days, 12 hours ago)

I have been to the Baumarket and got some Baugips.  Is this the same as Gypsum?

They said it was for walls and was Calcium Carbonate. Is this right?

They had some Calcium Sulphate but only in 40Kg bags!!!!! I really dont need that much...

I have been using some Baugips that I thought was the same as Gypsum.

Can anyone help me please.

I could just order some Gypsum from Amazon but if I can get it at my local Baumarkt, why not.

Thanks for the help guys.

Gypsum is outdated and not necessary so try and return whatever that is you bought.

Here is a I grow I did without gypsum involved at any stage

Oh!!!!!

I thought that it provides valuable nutrients to the Mycelium. I have been adding it to the grain and to the coco coir Verm substrate....

It has not been documented to be beneficial therefore not necessary

I thought RR has shown improvements when adding gypsum? I've also heard of people using broken up drywall because its basically the same thing

But don't certain exotics need it to fruit?

If you want something chalky, use powdered egg shells. Just without the strange skin inside.
Although... using chalk is outdated, i agree with the others.

In German:
Wenn du was kalkhaltiges brauchst, benutz zermahlene Eierschalen. Nur ohne die komische Haut innen.
Wenngleich... was kalkhaltiges zu benutzen ist nicht mehr aktuell, da stimme ich den anderen zu.

I don't know about exotics but it is not needed at all for cubes. I know RR is well respected but even some of his information is dated.

Ask some TCs and see what they say. I can't think of any that use it anymore.
