Grain Spawn inoculation problem

Hello guys! Hope you're doing well in theses challenging time.
As I am still fairly new to the world of mushroom cultivation l, I don't understand what's going on with my grain spawn and was hoping some of you might help me!
This is my second batch of lion's mane grain spawn : first one went flawless, no contamination.
As I've inoculated with a 1.5 ml of lion's mane liquid mycelium on last monday, today was time to shake the jar as I did last time ; I was surprised to see that almost no mycelium was present in the jar :/.
Moreover, there was a strange orange color on my air entry that looks like rust.. On my others attemp, I only made 1 hole but then decided to have 2 on this batch since my liquid culture was fairly old (jan-feb 2020). Could this be releated?
I also place a New Kind of injection port that might be a little cheaper than the previous one.
I keep them in a fairly warm place (19-26 degree).
Any ideas? Thank you !

Hericium has very whispy growth. from what I see in that last picture, it looks ok. you might want to post your gourmet/medicinal questions in the designated forum. mush cult is for actives only.
I hope you can't look through that hole in the ship because if so, it's not really self healing, is it
the orange is rust.

Thank you for your reply Haywire!
I'm new to this forum, I will pay more attention next time.
I will wait and see if the mycelium keep growing properly. Should I try to seal the hole with tape or something else?
I've switched to my previous box as I think this one doesnt breath properly.
Any tips on how to avoid all that rust?
Thank you agin, really appreciated Enjoy your day!

don't worry about it. your box doesn't need to breath at all. as long as your bottles allow gas exchange you're fine. if you can't look through it, you shouldn't do anything about it. rust won't affect the spawn, you can only avoid it by using PP lids.
