First you gotta know if you want a online wallet (hot wallet) or a hardware wallet (cold wallet). My personal choice for hot wallets is blockchain, and for cold wallets i use ledger devices.

Looking for iOS wallet(s) to sweep from paper wallets initially, then something secure I can trade with in smaller alt coins and Integrate with a cold storage once I’m rich (lol) And of course send funds for online purchases.
Seems bitcoin.com can handle the sweeps, and green is a solid contender for the online/offline storage combo. Any experience with those on iOS?

look into Ledger Nano S/Ledger Nano X, It is considered as one of the safest wallet and also has an iOS app. Keeping your coins on exchanges is okay if you have small funds but everyone with big money keeps their coins safe in hardware wallets

I use Coinbase, never had an issue. Just dont buy sketchy stuff off your Coinbase wallet, which is probably the stories you read about.

Dammit, I am doing this for my art supplies. Is that a red flag?

I'd also be rather curious in hearing more about this. While I haven't used my crypto-monies in a while (probably over 1.5 years now at this point) I spent a decent amount on different art supplies as well. Though I did route everything through a coin-washing service. Still a problem?

I'm very new to it but as I understood it the basic minimum is an Electrum wallet downloaded to your PC.
Is a bit of extra cost moving coins from Coinbase to the desktop wallet, but much safer.

I did more research and bought a ledger nano X and S dual pack deal. Coin base pro for weekly purchases from my bank funds, and move to the hard wallet as soon as possible.

Depends on why you want to buy crypto I guess. A cold storage wallet like a Trezor or Ledger is probably best if you want to invest over the long term but a software wallet is fine if you just need to use it to make purchases. Do many darknet markets still even take things like bitcoin now though? I thought they were into monero these days.
You definitely should not be using any online wallets that you do not own though.

Bitcoin is still ubiquitous, but Monero is encouraged. I doubt it will unseat Bitcoin until it is supported by Coinbase though.

Unseat in what sense? I thought that monero was basically just used on account of the fact that people were paranoid about blockchain analysis. Bitcoin seems like it's a way safer long term investment. It actually might not be a terrible idea to just put money into a BTC hardware wallet the same way that you'd put it into an index fund, though I guess that an index fund is way less likely to lose money over time.

Unseat in terms of being the standard currency for DNMs.
