Ideally, I want to start growing blue oysters from scratch to save myself from having to buy grain spawn, but this might be biting off more than I can chew at first
after learning a bit I was wondering if it's possible to skip doing spores and agar
could I just buy G1 grain spawn and then try to produce G2 and G3 jars, then when they get contaminated just buy another G1 and start over?
P.S if you avoid contamination can you keep going indefinitely?
Sure you can buy spawn and transfer. Just make a large still air box and follow proper techniques. Consensus is about G5 or G6( lots of discussion on the forum about this). Personally as a hobby grower I usually stop at G4.
Personally as a small hobby grower I prefer to propogate LCs. Needlework is farrrr easier in an SAB than doing grain transfers. Thats just me, inoculating with syringes and making LC is just more fun to me.
-------------------- So if I try to grow mold, will my fav mushrooms contaminate my blocks instead??
