ID Request, Gymnopilus junonius?
    #27048419 - 11/20/20 06:08 AM (3 years, 2 months ago)

Hi, yesterday found theese on the base of a big eucalypt three, located at a riverside, 300-400 metres altitude from the sea in Galicia, a north Spain area close to Portugal.

Bigger caps around 20 cm, stem lenght up to 40-50, not any bruising observed and not any strong smell noticed, just a slight mushroom like scent.

I am still a beginner hunting so i am not very good identifying scents, but didn´t notice any anise like smell supposedly related to some Gymnopilus...

Could they be Junonius? Any suggestion to distinguish Junonius from Ventricosus or other close members of their family?

Thanks!

Looks like G. junonius. Mind you, it is not a psychoactive species.
