Is it OK to mix different seeds and grains?

Has anyone here mixed different grains/seeds for their spawn?
I was thinking of mixing Rye berries with Wild Bird seeds and oats for horse feed. Perhaps a 1/3 of each, soak overnight or 24 hours, boil water, drain and then PC the mixture in jars.
How does this sounds?

Never tried myself, but my guess if you go ahead remember they might not hydrate and dry off at the same rate if the grains are all different sizes

You can do that. WBS is a mix of different grains. What benefit would it give vs what downside? I can’t think of any benefit, but I imagine it would make proper grain prep more difficult. As stated above, the difference in rate of hydration may give you some problems.

I treat WBS and rye a bit different. Additives and soaking is the same, but with WBS I only very shortly bring it to a simmer, while rye I simmer for around 10 mins. WBS has seeds that pop/crack when cooked to long, while the rye only gets more hydrated in my experience. Although you will probably get away with mixing it, I don't see a lot of advantages in doing so. I would just prepare them sepperatly. Just my 5 cents though
All the best!
