Martha Tek Humidity Question

Hey fellas so I’ve recently got a Martha tek tent up and rolling, just your standard 4 tier, poly covered shelf, I bought a little ultrasonic humidifier from Walmart and threw it in the bottom tier of the tent, I should mention I have a inkbird controller hooked up and probe inside above the middle shelf, I noticed when I had the humidifier on the bottom of the tent it took a long time to get to my target humidity, I moved the humidifier to the top shelf and it’s now reaching my target humidity extremely fast which I find hard to believe it’s doing so, any recommendations?

It could be the mist falling on the probe. I'm currently setting up my first Martha greenhouse and trying to figure out the best way to humidify as well. I'm thinking about adding a fan to the bottom shelf that turns on with the humidifier and circulates the mist around the greenhouse.

Hygrometers malfunction and fail in those environments. Hygrometers that handle saturation humidity and accurately function in those conditions are quite expensive

Ultrasonic humidifiers create dense humidity that sinks, it makes sense that it would humidify your chamber faster from the top than from the bottom. My master humidifier has always sat at the top of the chamber. If your probe is designed to turn the humidifier off and on you’ll need to mount it somewhere that it will be “hidden” more or less from direct contact with moisture; under a tub on one of the lower shelves or something, though I’ve never needed to use one. Just adjust the output of your humidifier until you strike a balance between maintaining high humidity and getting everything soaking wet. The setting is usually quite low, lower than you’d probably expect
-------------------- I've been trying to justify you In the end I will just defy you

I wonder if it would be a good idea to create a cover for the probe, such as a 1/2" or 3/4" piece of pvc pipe capped on one side with a hole drilled in it. You can then stick the prob through the hole in the cap, put some silicone over the hole and mount it somewhere where the open side is facing down.

Use a water heater in a small aquarium and leave it on all the time is the best way- set n forget!

NEVER let aquarium go empty- WILL be a fire!

Grahaham said: Yes got a single ultrasonic disk fogger that floats, put it in 5 gal bucket and hooked up a couple fans. Connected the ultrasonic to a hygrostat and keep the fans running; only the fogger turns on and off. After dialing it in you can pretty much set it and forget it as long as the sensor doesn’t get over saturated if that happens it’s most likely set too high.

I have a willhi, too. The sensor will last a lot longer if you seal it up with silicone where the wires are going into it.
