recognize the mycelium
    #27048027 - 11/19/20 08:25 PM (3 years, 2 months ago)

reading Paul Stamets I understand that there are many types of mycelium.  Linear, Rhizomorphic, Cottony, Zonate, matted, powered.  in cubensis it should be rhizomorphic.  I ask for advice to recognize the cubensis mycelium.  What should the cubensis mycelium look like and how shouldn't it be?

To my knowledge it can be rhizomorphic (spikey lightning bolts) or tomentose (fluffy clouds)

Here’s the beginning’s of healthy mycelium...

Here’s some nice rhizomorphic mycelium

Rhizomorphic is preferable for cubes because of the way it reaches out to see if the area next is all good to colonize I believe... leads to quicker colonization...

Cheers!

Stamets also claims (and we've found through years of growing!) that rhizomorphic growth also tends to fruit more than other varieties of myc.
