12qt boxes
CVG bucket tek
Spawn and mix in the box, press slightly, thin covering of cvg to coverup spawn.
Been using these lately because they looked a bit too easy. Every once and a while not all of the top layer colonizes before pins set. Anyone know why and what I can do to correct this?
Bare spot, but pinning.

No bare spot box for comparison.

Aiming for more uniformity in your spawning methods could help. Your issue could be from a host of variables, and it's hard to say with just pictures.

What are some of these variables?

Top layer is uneven in places, unhomogeneous hydration of sub, not breaking and mixing the longer more fiberous pieces of coir

Funny how there are so many complex variables in such a straight forward easy task, lol that shits fractal though just spirals on forever, kicking it complex.

I take a cautious approach in handling the sub. So this makes sense. Thank you.

So so true! It's so simple, but every step has its own nuance.
