That's why many of his lawyers are asking to be relieved. As cases fall apart, lawyers have an ethical duty to dismiss them or withdraw.

How is it legal for trump to personally lobby election officials to change their votes to certify the Wayne county results?

No election official in their position should have ANY contact with a candidate in a race they are responsible for overseeing. This is completely absurd.

Election officials talk to candidate committee members all the time though. I think there would have to be some sort of bribe or threat involved to become illegal.

He was a publicity hound who leveraged this case to a largely successful stint as Mayor of NYC.
That's why I'm convinced that Cyrus Vance Jr., the New York County (Manhattan) District Attorney will not back down on his pledge to get Trump. His father was Jimmy Carter's Secretary of State and and had very high level military positions under JFK and LBJ. Junior, who has reputation as a grandstander, sees a Trump prosecution a his ticket to the big time.
But back to Rudy G., he's definitely a sad shell of his former self. It's difficult to understand why Trump chose him, except that the President values loyalty far above ability.
