The lid of the master jar off when doing g2g...?
    #27047312 - 11/19/20 12:55 PM (3 years, 2 months ago)

Was wondering what people's preferences are when doing g2g in a SAB. I'd think you'd want the lid off of either jar as little as possible, but I keep seeing videos of people leaving the master jar lid off during multiple transfers. Wouldn't that leave your colonized spawn exposed to bacteria or spores floating around and attaching themselves and then going straight into your sterilized receiving jars?

If you put the M lid back on between transfers, where in the SAB is best to leave it? Flipped up or down? Should you wipe with alcohol every time you put in back on? Am I just overthinking it?

One thing to keep in mind about working in a SAB is that the more you move within it, the more you can pull outside air/contaminants through the cracks. Knowing your setup and making calm collected movements is key, disturbing the air as little as possible. maybe that means leaving the lid off the master jars in your setup

One piece lids are great for g2g. Or even normal as long as you take the bands off and pop the lids loose before you start.

Lately I’ve been holding the lid of the receiving jar and sliding the lid of colonized jar up about half way and holding it in place while I pour, then sliding it back shut after.
