Is there a possibility that it's a Galerina?

Did you get a print? That will help, I think.

Take a spore print to be sure. Galerina will have orange spores, where as Psilocybe has purple. I'm very confident you found a Psilocybe species though.

Still worth taking a spore print as you never know who is sneaking through the bushes with a can of blue spray paint.

The stem got bluer after op handled it though so unless the spray paint had some super advanced ability to delay opacity it’s pretty safe to say it’s not a galerina lol. However, if op does take a print I’d be happy to take it off his hands for microscopy

If anything just have a camera ready and take pictures of all of them. The mushrooms, that is, not the cops. Take pictures of every species you see, they will have nothing on you.
Then just remember the spot and come back later
Kind of weird that cops are just waiting on people to pick a mushroom only to also get a felony. That's lame.

Damn did you have run in’s when you lived in the bay? I was mainly joking anyway despite all the gentrification in SF there are still plenty of tie-dye’s wondering the park lol.
It is easy to get lost on the hunting pursuit though I’ve called out other hunters and vise versa It’s always worth a good laugh when that happens.

I was never personally approached by law enforcement but I have seen them questioning others who are clearly picking, and I have seen them driving around the paths, in the rain, on a December night, which they NEVER do...I only saw them do it when it was raining...hm. It's no secret when & where the actives grow, and they know when & who to look for to make an easy arrest to meet whatever shitty quotas they have, which is way easier than getting a warrant to search private property. Cops hate paperwork as much as any normal human.
I used to live a block from the park and biked through it daily on my commute so I would hunt as I rode, which lowered my risk a bit, but I would always be cautious how I dressed when I was on foot so as to not arouse suspicion. Tye die is the last thing you'd see me in with a pocket full of psilocybe haha!

I’d either go in a tuxedo or full drag. If you can intimidate them, they won’t approach you
