Mushroom songs * 2
    #27025609 - 11/06/20 07:18 PM (3 years, 3 months ago)

Hey everyone:)

Please forgive me if there is already a thread on this.

I have about 10 years experience working with different plant medicines and indigenous groups in many different parts of the world. Peyote, mushrooms, ayahuasca, Iboga, sapo, etc. I have experienced many of these plants/animals in or near their culturally traditional context. one beautiful thing that all of theses ceremonies had in common was the use of song, chant, prayer, and rhythm.
Another beautiful thing I noticed was a similarity in tone, vibration, melody, and rhythm among many healers and shamans working with the same plants. Whether this is because they grew up learning from similar elders, or because they had a connection with the plant intelligence and it’s voice, I found this extremely interesting.

One thing I find myself doing every time I eat mushrooms is singing. Melodies just come, I tap, clap, drum, or just sing. Songs just seem to flow through. Sometimes with words, and sometimes just vocalizations. Many times I feel as though it is helping to move energy, or just helping me navigate my experience. Does anyone else have similar experiences? Maybe songs or melodies they feel they have “received” from the mushrooms? I understand that many people have different perspectives here and I am in no way trying to push a certain idea into anyone, or tell anyone how things work. This is purely curiosity. I am curious if people have songs they can recall hearing or singing in these states of consciousness. Does anyone care to share?

I have many recordings of myself in solo and small group mushroom sessions singing melodies that spontaneously come through.

Maybe we can form a collection of songs/ melodies that others may find helpful or enjoyable. Or perhaps just have a discussion on the idea of navigating journeys through song and rhythm. Maybe this could be a place where people share their inspired voices for the first time because they have been afraid to in the past.  I have my ideas as to why this can be very beneficial in the mushroom experience. By no means is it necessary, and I have spent years with mushrooms in silence. It is only in recent years that I have begun to sing and chant. I am interested in hearing from others! It doesn’t need to be song. Maybe prayers, maybe inspired words, invocations, whatever you feel may be from the mushroom, or the mushroom experience. Again, I understand that everyone has different views about communing with the spirits or intelligences of plants and fungus. So use whatever language makes you most comfortable. Maybe you were inspired by a moment, maybe the mushroom spoke/sang through you, maybe a certain aspect of your psyche was unlocked, maybe your fingers grew minds of their own and flew across the fret board as you watched in amazement, Whatever it was, what has moved through you?

Here are a couple of recordings I posted on SoundCloud if anyone is interested. I Would love to hear about your experiences!

Thank you all for your time,
May your voices be heard.
Forever and in all ways,
Be well

I have always gone to music that I like with lyrics that I know well and like to sing. It always gets rid of my anxiety and puts me in a good place in my trip.
There was one time where I took a dose then an hour or so later ate some more. This is the longest trip I have had and I spent hours listening to Modest Mouse and Cage the Elephant and stuff like that. After that I laid in bed in silence going on 8 hours of tripping and my mind was filled with cascading melodies and ever changing tunes that just wouldnt stop. It was a very beautiful experience and one that I felt no control over. It was like some prodigal improv musician had a direct feed into my mind. Music has always been an integral part of my trips. I can't remember if I've done chanting or not but I feel like I have. I couldn't possibly recall the melodies though. I would definitely like to experiment with spontaneous chanting and vocalizing.

I think the thing with music and shrooms is all about vibrations. The sound wave of music is vibrating, the shrooms just before harvest are vibrating, everything is vibration

@RichardCranium
That’s really cool, I can totally relate! Especially back in my rave days. I would get home and lay down in bed only to be flooded with otherworldly melodies weaving through my mind as I drifted off into another realm. I always thought to myself, “Man! If I could recreate this, I would be a famous artists!” I had to accept that it was only for me to hear in that moment. Very cool experience! I would highly encourage you to try it out! I was surprised what came out when I simply opened my mouth.

@Loaded shaman
I love kombucha and I love mushrooms, sitting is great too.. is this a musical suggestion? Whatever it is, it sounds real nice!

@rustygrape
Thank you! I really appreciate you saying that. Do you have/ know any? I’m touched, and I also have this hesitation to call them medicine songs as I do not know for sure that  they are medicinal, but that’s totally my own insecurity stuff coming up.. I’m no shaman, but we all have medicine. I can tell other people that all day but to receive it is another thing entirely haha. Thank you for that opportunity!
Which brings me to my next point!

@hikeadelic
Totally agree! It’s so beautiful to recognize that. Like I was telling rustygrape, I’m no shaman or healer by any means. But the mushrooms are very much master teachers in my opinion. You give a master anything and they present a lesson for you. Whether it’s a distraction in the meditation, some adversity you bring them, or just your own energetic confusion. Master teachers can take it and use it to teach. This is what I have experienced working with different elders over the years. In my experience, the same applies to the mushrooms. Give them vibration! They will work with it. The cleaner the vibration, the more refined the teachings and cleansings can come through. So I do this thing I call “feeding the medicine” which is what happens when I’m vocalizing.. I may not be a master healer, but I can feed these ancient beings vibrations, and it almost seems as if they ride them, or work through them. Am I making sense? So running with this idea, anyone can potentially help the mushrooms do their work in people by providing clean vibrations for them to use.
This is just my opinion!

Thanks to everyone for providing such positive responses. I like this conversation.

Be well!

PS: just returned from the Oregon coast and picked about 50 azurescens, and a grocery bag full of amanitas. I like to eat the first few azurescens I find to help me see better. I began to sing melodies I had not sung before out in the dunes and it really felt as though I found MANY more while singing rather than walking around thinking about random stuff..Just a fun thing to think about. While I was in Peru, the tribe I was visiting would sing songs while hunting occasionally calling the kambo frogs with a loud bark. Whether this was effective or not, I found it to be much more engaging and enjoyable than tromping through the bush, frustrated about discomfort, or subtle anxiety about finding what im looking for. All vibrations matter~

Bless y’all!

Just want to bump this thread.

Recently started working with Amanita Muscaria. My goodness! What a beautiful mushroom. I have heard about 4 melodies working with this mushroom now in the past couple of weeks, and they have a very different sound than any of the psilocybes. I can’t believe I am just now discovering the power of this abundant mushroom.. Truly an early Christmas gift:)
Happy to post if there is any interest?

So grateful for this PNW rain!

Interesting.

I personally listen to native american flute and drum music when i trip on higher mushroom doses.

Never made my own music or chanting etc.

On the come down normally i feel very meditative and do lots of stretching wnd yoga which come very natural.

I believe yoga developed from psychedelic use

There was one trip though.

More related to speech than music.

It was like i was making certain art with certain sounds, i think drawing in the dirt, and felt as if that was the way language had developed
