Alright. Couple things.

This mycelium bruises like a mofo. This is a slight mist, because I feel like it need it a bit. My tent stays great humidity and such, just looked like it could use it.

Second, there is a solid pin set coming in now. This is T2 from print. Slight fuzzy feet, but I can guarantee that is just the culture. The fluffy has stayed away, and the pins have continued to grow.

It’s a slow one, for primordia developing. But, I’m thinking it’ll turn out decent. Fingers crossed

Aka (and whoever else was watching these wood chips) I'm tossing this experiment. It's slowed down significantly if not completely stalled out. It was fun.

Yeah. I wasn’t sure on the wood chips.

I honestly think a manure added to coir/verm mix at a lower spawn rate than normal, might be the ticket.

I’ve got a massive pin set on this cake btw. Had a little issue with my misting system yesterday during the day, and lost a couple to aborts. But the rest are still growing just fine. Hoping for a solid flush now. These things are slow to mature. Looking at a week now and stilll growing. Slowly but surely.

I didn't think it was gonna take over and flush or anything, I just wanted to see if it was interested.

Agreed. Reminds me of some of the other species I’ve grown.

I’d imagine it’ll be another week or two. Just a guess, but judging by the growth and such, seems about right. But, no fluff at all after the flip. So that’s promising.

Well folks the shape shifter is still hard at it. Here we have two Ps Natalensis cultures (both from the same ms germination plate ... one is in a shoe box (on the right), the other is in a tub, both are on their second flush... I guess the small ones (1-1.5 inches tall) in the shoe box could be because there is a lot less substrate but we’ve all seen bigger shrooms on a cake. The shoe box flush is also spread out and not really clustered while the tub has fruits 4-5 times bigger and in definite clusters. The blotchy patches on the cap is that damn fungus gnat bacteria problem.  Both the shoe box and tub are on CVG and neither looks like the straw and horse manure Natalensis:

In other Psilo News...

The Ps. Cubensis var Natal Super Strain Spores have germinated...
Looking ok. The Ps. Natalensis spores are germinating but a bacterial nightmare!

I will try again, but I’m not too confident I’ll be able to salvage any clean mycelium from anything from that syringe. Pretty disappointed considering I spent about a hundred bucks for the print and the syringe and it took six weeks to get here. On the positive side they did throw in a free print (the Natal SS, and the Panaeolus Cyanescens Natal syringe is as clean as a whistle and germinated within a few days.

Have you tried germing it on brf/verm? Might help slow down the bacteria so you can transfer out

Flipped my sub after noticing some pins on the bottom and nothing but overlay on top.

Thanks for the advice guys, I hope this works

So id say these grow somewhere between cubes and pans in difficulty. Easier than pans not as easy as cubes. Nto
Not more difficult than cubes but a little different.  They fruit more like cubes to me. But the fruiting characteristics are more like pans. And the mycelia has pockets of blob looking material. But the material is smooshy like marshmellows. I harvested all of it in images below. And what i thought might be trich, may be the bluing reaction of the substrate. Blueing is good. Havent had any visible spore drop. The top layer mats over heavy but this causes harvest to be very easy. I twist and pulled with no issues. They took about a week longer to fruit than cubes after top layer colonized. Almost a full week of just fuzzing over. Then pins after 7 days. Fruit size similar to pans.

My whole top layer was overlay and did nothing for a week straight. Then it pinned.

Yada yada yada. Harvested this BS. Came out to a total of 100 grams. Off half quart of spawn.

I’m taking a clone of the biggest one, and working it again. Taking that cluster or two as well. In addition to 6 other cultures I have going of it. I will be casing all the others, as I’m going into the fruiting tent with these and they could benefit from the added humidity because of massive amounts of FAE. (Oyster and king tent)

That’s a pretty good haul eat. These definitely seem healthier on manure, a lot of the coir grows look anemic where they’re this light grey color always partially bruised.

Madscience that’s annoying but I figured that’s what would happen. I had some just like that.

So far on my list for these.

Less spawn, manure. Same as pans.

Consolidation period seemed to help.

You eaten any yet eat???

Yeah. I ate .22 one morning for microdose. It was NOT a microdose lol. They are potent. And I’ll thinking of doing a 2.5 or 3 of them in the coming weeks. We shall see though. Gotta find time.

These guys continue to amaze and confound me. I’ve got a new phenotype ... and completely different phenotypes in the same tub (that also had some of the marshmallows Eat talked about.
The most normal I’ve seen this thing behave is a low spawn ratio on straw / Hpoo / coir.

This is pretty much a standard coir verm mix here:

That top thing is super weird psilo. The bottom looks just like all the overlay I’ve pulled off my tubs but it grew a cap??

This old HG plate I have sitting in the SAB to transfer from (for 5 days now...), popped a pin.

Ill be taking the pin to a new plate and trying to get back in here!

I have had the box set up for transfers for about a week now and every night I'm like...eh tmr I'll get to them, buncha over grown plates

Here is a sharpie for size comparison. Ive been harvesting when they turn blue.

I was right at 16-17 days to harvest. Thats actually not bad at all. Ive got one more tub on the way.
