Are my grain jars too dry?

It’s been 10 days since spore inoculation kept at 23-25c and I’m not seeing even a tickle of mycelium in any of my 6 pint jars (B+). Bit worried the grain is too dry. I know photos aren’t ideal for telling moisture content but any help/advice would be great.

Had they properly cooled down prior to inoculation? Had you properly shaken the syringe?
I can't advise you on your specific issue as I'm a noob myself, but my first grow failed so for my second grow I waited much longer for the PC to cool down prior to inoculation. Of this second grow, I was a little anxious setting up the area for inoculation and stupidly forgot to shake the syringe before the first cake so that one hasn't colonised at all.

Grain looks OK. Can't really do anything but wait OR reinoculate. I'd wait it out.
Have you used said syringe for anything else that's germinated? As there's only 2 jars there, I'd imagine you'd have left overs.

Was it MSS? MSS can take weeks to take off, and it may not at all in my experience.
Start working with agar if you haven't already.

Hard to tell from photos. If it's too dry it certainly will slow down growth and maybe even stall eventually.
If you are up for some experiment you can the following. Weigh out the amount of grain you would usually put in a jar (let's call this number G). Prepare your grains as you normally would up to the point where they would go into the PC. Weigh them again (call it T). Now there will be slight loss of water during the PC cycle (for me it's about 10ml/jar depending on how much steam you're losing) which you can measure by weighing the whole jar before and after PC cycle, call it PCloss
Now calculate (T-0.86G-PCloss)/(T-PCloss). this is your moisture level. The rye preps i tried got this number to about 0.48 (48%), which is fine, but actually on the low side, so more is ok.
In case you're wondering where 0.86 comes from: grain from the bag already contains some water. Because grain has to be dried to below 14% to avoid mold, but usually doesn't get dried more than it has to, 14% is a good estimate for the moisture content for grain straight out of the bag. Of course, you can measure that number too by drying a sample of your grain in the oven.

The number of burst grains in those jars seems normal so I’d say the moisture is probably fine. Sometimes spores just take a while to germinate and they’ll take longer on grains than on agar.
Classic advice, use agar or do BRF cakes if you want to use a spore syringe. Don’t blaspheme.

haha ok, agar I obviously get but what's the reason BRF > grain for spore inoculation?

If you have a bacterial spore syringe (a lot of them are in my experience) the BRF jars seem to handle it really well most of the time while grains get slimy and gross, or they colonize slowly or stall, if you get to spawning stage they may hold up against invaders or just Trich out before the 1st depending on severity.
Cakes never get shaken up or spawned (when fruited as cakes 🎂) so it’s not as important that they be axenic
