hello, just started using this site seriously, this is my first time trying agar out and honestly I'm really satisfied with how healthy the mycelium looks and how easy contaminates are to deal with!

Thank you so much for posting this exhaustive exposé on agar technique. Like many of the other TEKS contained in this forum, this provides a fast-track for a beginner like me to obtain successful results. The work that it took to prepare the pictures, the write-up, and the experience required to make this happen are noted and appreciated.

Add everyone before me has said, wonderful post. Than you so much for the write up.
So unfortunately I have a dumb question that the search engine could not help me solve. After you inoculate the agar with spores, seal it with paraffin, and store it in a ziplock, where do you keep it? On the counter, in the fridge, in the dark? I would think this is a pretty simple answer that I just couldn't find.
Thanks

Room temp, out of direct sunlight and with as stable of temps as possible. Temp swings cause condensation and that's your enemy. If you have wild (beyond the average house ) temp swings you'd probably want to throw them in an insulated lunch box or something similar to slow down the swings. This helps a shitload with condensation. I keep mine on shelves in the grow room.

Might just be a typo/autocorrect, but you seal petri dishes with parafilm (a clear, breathable, flexible tape) not paraffin (wax).
