Easy Jiffy Mix Substrate For Lazy Bulk Uncle Ben Tek

Hi!
Currently doing the uncle Ben’s tek. Wondering how I can keep this super easy and fashion this into a “lazy bulk uncle Ben’s tek”. Once my uncle Ben cakes are ready- is it possible to just spawn to jiffy mix? Would this work? 1. Hydrate jiffy mix to field capacity 2. Pour jiffy mix into unmodified rubber maid. 3. Break spawn cakes and do jiffy mix layers 4. Mist the sides of the tub 5. Leave tub sealed for 10 days and then slightly open 6. Monitor humidity levels and reap harvest
Any issues with this?

Bro there's plenty wrong with the uncle bens method. I won't even call it a tek. I'm sorry you got your first info off reddit or youtube but best of luck with that. If you want to grow some mushrooms try the links at the top of the forum

I mean I understand why it is called "Uncle Bens tek". The amount of mushrooms you will grow from it is as much as a dead man would grow.

It seems like 95+% of the contaminated or completely fucked up grows I see posted on here are using uncle ben’s tek. I have no idea where it started or why it’s so popular with new growers, but I have yet to see anyone post any successful grows using the method. Not just low yields, but in general no fruits at all.
If you want to spawn your cakes to bulk, buy some coco coir instead of jiffy mix, and for the love of god pasteurize something, don’t just hydrate substrate and dump your grow into it, and definitely don’t take a wildly unsuccessful method and try to cut even more corners with it by turning it into a “lazy” grow

Lol it is pretty crazy to try n shorten the uncle ben's tek (which I'm not gonna argue the validity of.. I know first-hand it works fine) like you're already cutting out the whole sterilizing the grains part how could u rly want it easier 🤣🤣

see, just cause it worked a few times for you and a some reddit users, it doesn't mean it's not a stupidly risky endeavor to put spores directly into grain, which is essentially what uncle ben's tek is. The cost is also ridiculously high, as you can get 40 kg of whole oats for what a few bags of cooked rice would cost. I'm all for people trying to grow their own shit but it'd be better for everyone trying to get into mush cult if bad techniques weren't constantly being recommended. Where I live it's essentially "GROW KITS! GROW KITS! WE GOT THE BEST STRAINS!! GROW KITS!" and it's pretty sad tbh.

So I don’t know anything about uncle ben’s tek other than that it fails a lot, but I have inoculated grains directly with spore syringes hundreds of times in my 13 years of growing and never lost a jar. Other steps need to be taken to ensure success, but everyone these days has this idea that it’s impossible to successfully go from syringe to grain. Literally everyone used to do syringe to grain; I even saw a 14-year old post the other day where someone asked about agar, and someone told him to ask the question in advanced mycology because “no one here [in mush cult] works with agar, everyone inoculates with syringe.”
I’m not saying agar isn’t better, but grows don’t just automatically fail because someone inoculates grains with a syringe. The reason it mostly fails these days is because people mix the old methods of inoculating with syringe with the new methods of spawn storage and handling, which definitely isn’t likely to work very often.
