So a cube is a cube, except when it's not, and Yeti is certainly not just a cube.
Yeti is a variety that was isolated and stabilised by Facebook user Jik Fibs. It is a mutation that was isolated, from golden teacher spores, whilst trying to find a True Albino Teacher (TAT) variety.
Before I get into the report I'll quickly go though my day and setting so the mindset is more relatable.
It was an easy going day, my wife had been at work and during the morning I did some myco work and about 5 miles of walking with the dog, enjoying the British autumn and it's array of colours. That evening we had a Chinese for dinner and got nice and stoned. My wife decided she was going to have a few drinks and I was eager to try these yeti's out, having heard they had more of a punch then regular cubes.
So I got a brew on. Chucked 5 grams of dried yetis in some lemon juice to steep for 15 minutes, simmered with water for another 5 minutes, added some mint and honey. I was all set to go.
I had no real preconceptions about Yeti. I'd merely heard it was stronger than average. Just before finishing my tea, Shroomery users D3monic and Josex, both vaguely ascribed an odd slightly unsettling vibe to their effects but this wasn't enough to really phase me. So down the hatch it went and I settled in to watch a movie with my wife and the mutt.
Dose: 5g
Method: lemon tek tea
Setting: Familiar and comfortable
Time of consumption: 10.15pm The experience; The come up didn't take long, about 20 - 30 minutes before I was undeniably tripping. Come up was smooth and gradual. Started with muscles relaxing and colours becoming more vivid. Not long afterwards I notice movement in objects and in patterns, they appeared to breathe, and gently sway backwards and forwards.
Now normally the t.v. tends to distract from any peripheral visuals but unusually my OEV's were consistent and getting stronger despite the huge glaring television.
After a time, reality seemed to have been draped in what seemed like a film like layer, with images and flickers of bright colours shimmering over it. The air itself seemed cloudy with coloured light moving through it like fog.
This space that I was now in, is where I stayed for a while. It had a eerie kind of empty sense to it. The kind the left my skin with goosebumps. As light simmered backwards and forwards across the film coated reality, I was remarkably clear headed. I remember recalling how it felt kinda like DMT. On this notion I decided to close my eyes for a while and enter my own space.
Behind my eyelids a world unfolded, everything in it was made up of what appeared to be a living machine. Fascinating and encapsulating but also cold and distant. Again similarities with DMT struck me as walls of colourful organic machinations pulsed out towards me.
I managed to wrench my consciousness back from behind my sealed eyelids and was back in the room. The movie was just drawing to a close. We rolled a spliff each and lined up the next movie, we were going for penguins of Madagascar.
I as the intro rolled on and I smoked my spliff, I started to let my mind wander. Keen to draw comparisons and note distinctions between this Yeti trip and others I have taken. The clarity of thought and vivacity of the colours made it highly reminiscent of some of Shulgins analogues, specifically 2C-e. These visual effects continued throughout the movie, which this time totally engrossed me, as I sat there cuddling my wife.
After the hilarity of the penguins movie subsided, my wife, drunk and stoned, retires for bed. Alone, I set up the LED projector and an awesome "king Tubby" playlist.
At this time, my trip seems to have died down. OEV's are minimal, yawning had increased and tears are starting to run intermittently from my eyes.
So, music is on, lighting is perfect, I lay down on the sofa and let king Tubby do his thing. Best decision I made that evening. By the end of the first track my CEV's were overwhelming. I slide though world's as they morphed around me, but what was even more prominent was the sound of the music. The music became so tactile, I could feel notes as the wound through the ridges and valleys of my outer ear before entering my mind. Each sound caressed and massaged it's way into my mind creating a visual, tactile, and audible treat for the senses.
I kind of came too, from this nirvana state, some 8 tracks later. Mind muddled, tears streaming down my cheeks, body groggy and unfamiliar. However, a thought of bodily functions pierced through the fog in my mind. I needed a piss.
Right here is where the trip starts to get a bit hairy in an unfamiliar way.
Standing at the toilet, my legs feel like jelly. I notice my vision starts to get glitchy. Images in front of me are literally glitching 2" left or right of where they are. My hands become impossible to track with my eyes unless I hold them incredibly steady. Suddenly, my right leg gives way but I catch myself against the wall. Starting to feel slightly delirious now. My whole field of vision is beginning to glitch back and forth, I try to head toward the stairs but it's incredibly hard to focus. Whilst holding the wall I make it to the first step but don't have the strength in my legs to get up it. Shits getting real now. I change course and start making my way to the sofa again. I line myself up and coordinate my fall with all the grace of a dropped pancake.
Things begin to settle as I lay there. Eyes closed, I try to hear nothing and see nothing. As if I were a rock and the world was just passing by. I feel out of sync with the space I'm occupying. Like I'm there and not there. My body is still weak and I notice my head is completely lolled to one side. Putting it upright requires concentration and a huge effort. About half an hour passes like this. My body slowly becomes responsive and I make myself to bed around 4.15am.
There were no negative effects the next day, my mind felt refreshed albeit groggy. I'd even say, that overall I enjoyed myself and would probably do it again just to savour the music.
In summary, I would say the Yeti effects are well above average for cubensis. It's incredibly visual and creates an amazing auditory landscape. Can cause confusion with motor control and spacial perception. But i would definitely recommend just to try something a bit different.
