Shroomy McShroom. I know that they are either Pan Foens or Pan Subbs, neither of which are harmful, so I'm not just going out and eating anything that I find. Thanks for the warning though!

Well, the verdict is in .... They were Pan Foens. It's been almost 2 hours now with no effect. I guess better luck next time... and there will be a next time!

WEll I posted this and I must have not sent the preview page forward.

They are opanaeolina foenisecii. No doubt about it. the majority are thin staklked and I see what could be bands of color. The stems are not like Sub stems, they are to smooth, no verticla groves up the stem and no filaments at the bottom half of the stem as sometimes seen in subbs. So they are foenisecii.

By the way everyone. There are at least 15 species of Panaeolus which are not psychoactive. The real one is P. subbalteatus and a few varients of that mushroom and then the six Copelandia species which are also sometimes referred to as panaeolus.

Instead of making a new thread, I thought I'd post this here, as I found, what I think are Panaeolus subbalteatus, in my yard yesterday. It stormed the day before, and I found three small patches of these. There was a certain degree of decomposing grass cuttings in each place I found these. However, I can't really decide whether they are Panaeolus subbalteatus or Panaeolina foenisecii.. I took a spore print, and it seemed to be black. It's pretty much my first year of mushroom picking, and I guess my paranoia is getting to me. I know this isn't the best picture, but could someone help me out?

Thes were growing from grass you say?

Well, I mean, yes, you could have found subbalteatus, but, most likely those are indeed foeniescii. That bag pictured... Is that a little bag that they stick single beers in, or a grocery bag? Im guessing its a little bag.

Im pretty sure that they are indeed inactive Panaeolus, and you do have a mixed collection of mushrooms.

IT IS NOT WISE TO CONSUME THESE.

If they were growing in grass, and aren't very robust, you can say that they are probably a form of foeneiscii.

They are laying on a paper towel. Don't worry.. I was in no way planning on comsuming these without first knowing exactly what they were. I know there are two different species there.

Tell us the results.

Look at the sporeprint with a keen eye under a nice light because brown can look black if the light conditions aren't right. Also, P. Subb. have a hard to recognize type of bruising; the blue is often shadowed by the brown-red brusing. It can be really hard to tell.

I would say that the one with the biggest cap resembles a subb very well.

That wouldn't be smart, for mainly the reason that what's obviously a different mushroom to one person could easily be a lookalike to more of a newbie hunter. Until you ID it it'd be stupid to take your chances like that

you have to remeber to, not all species of mushrooms have been found, and you could come across soemthing posionus that no one knows about. Not likely , but could happen. Its not hard to get an ID, just get one...thats what everyone is here for.
peace
