Something else is in my garden giant patch - (its psilocybe cyanescens!)
    #27039093 - 11/14/20 04:19 PM (3 years, 2 months ago)

Habitat:
Landscape woodchips, southern interior bc, middle of my garden giant patch, under blackberries.

Gills:
Tan

Stem:
5cm or so

Cap:
Largest one about 1"

Spore print color:
Can't determine. I think too immature, but frozen

Bruising:
Black

Other information:
I'm thinking psilocybe, but not sure which.

These are in my BlackBerry patch probably arisen from some old failed experiments I've tossed in the compost(this does not narrow it down)

Hi Nate, could be Stropharia caerulea or S. aeruginosa. I have had a couple blue coloured Stropharias come up in two different woodlover patches over the past week. I haven't ID'ed them to species yet. My hunch is that you have an inactive Stropharia spp. there. But this is just a guess.

Edit: having taken a second look at your photos, I think I'm wrong, I see there are some brown capped pins coming up beside the blue capped ones...could be P. baeocystis that you have.

Please get spore prints.  Those look exactly like psilocybe mushrooms, as well, many species of psilocybes such as cyanescens, alleni, and baeo's are all notably found under blackberries in particular.

I think it's a psilocybe cyans or baeo.  Maybe an alleni.  Wait for a TI to tell you.

Regardless, the universe has blessed you!

Where on the planet are you?
Depending on where you are they could very well be psilocybe cyanescens, not saying they are without further proof, but it could be

The heck? Photo on the right is 100% psilocybe. Maybe cyanescens. The photo on the left I have no idea, doesn't look like the same mushroom to me.

That's definitely one of the dozen or so species that have passed through my amateur lab.
I'll watch the patch next year, hopefully get mature spores. I dissected the most open cap and there were no spores visible on the gills yet,  even under magnification. They were turning brown and mushy inside the stripe  so I won't be testing potency.

It's cool to have a patch spring up like this. I do feel pretty blessed, I hope it give me more to study next year.

Volunteer Psilocybes in your garden? That's super cool.
