How common is HPPD? 1

I only ask because I’ve been using LSD a little too heavy the past two years, have slowed down since (I just really like LSD,) and worry about my vision sometimes. I don’t take heavy doses, but hear people say they got vision issues from tripping too much.
I also am done with getting drug tested in one month so I’ll be smoking weed quite often, and using it in conjunction with LSD. I won’t be using LSD too often but still am curious. Thanks!

What is heavy usage to you? The most I remember doing is about once a week for a year give or take, but I never took more than 1 or 2 hits. I've only done 3 hits twice. I can't fathom more than that for me and probably wouldn't take more than 2 these days.

I had HPPD for a while. Lasted about 4-5 months. Was very noticeable morning and night, not so much during the day.
It's not fun, but it doesn't feel like the end of the world either.

I thought I had HPPD for a while, but the visual changes I was having turned out to be attributable to the SSRI/SNRIs I was taking. As soon as I stopped them, my visual static went away.

I have had, still have it to varying degrees for 15 years but it's normal for me. It depends on how fixated on it you become. Relax and dont worry about it, I'd say.

I've had heavy visual static and experienced other things most commonly associated with HPPD since I was a very young child. Drugs like weed and psychedelics affect it for the duration, but I go back to my baseline when I sober up. Stimulants seem to increase the static and associated phenomena, though I don't do any stronger than caffeine or nicotine.
Strong emotions have the strongest effect on my visual stuff. It used to drive me crazy sometimes, but not so much anymore. When I can relax enough I find it pleasant.
There is much more info online regarding HPPD and similar things compared to 15 years ago; plenty of people who don't use hallucinogens have described either always having it or developing it at some point without an obvious reason to blame. Some associate it with certain types of mental illness

I was taking it once a week and even more often during the national quarantine, just using it as an escape because I can’t smoke weed or anything and was/been struggling to stay sober all the time. I thought I was having symptoms of HPPD but it was from long term kratom use and went away when I stopped taking it so much.
I then started using gabapentin to get off the kratom, but I ended up with a moderate kratom and gabapentin addiction compared to just a heavy kratom addiction... and i was having vision issues from that. It mainly happeneds when I got all stressed out. It was more so visual snow and double vision. Think it’s from the kratom/gabapentin, can’t say 100% sure tho.

My life is entirely hppd; but I’ve smoked dmt literally thousands of times. I just use the hppd as a creativity boost. It doesn’t hinder my life in anyway; that’s just when I’m being lazy that my starts to go into a downward spiral. I think it’s pretty common if you have tripped with any sort of regularity in the past 6 months

I don’t think I have HPPD I think it’s from kratom as it went away but who knows. Would you please go into some detail regarding your DMT use? I don’t have any specific questions but just say something about it?
Like the most intense DMT experiences you’ve had? Any negatives? Ever scared yourself? Combos with DMT?
I wonder why it hasn’t went away, cuz you keep smoking it?

I've had varying levels of visual disturbances for a very long time. Years where I have taken a lot of psychedelics it has got much stronger. DMT especially makes it much more noticeable. Never has it effected my ability to drive or anything like that. Like tinnitus it is one of those things that if you focus on it all the time it will eat you but if you ignore it it won't really be present.
Ever watched a grainy or old VHS converted film? Right at the start of the film the picture quality is noticeable, but then as the film goes on your brain compensates for it and you don't perceive it anymore, a new normal is established. Even writing this I checked myself for visual noise and tinnitus and sure enough they are there, but 5 minutes ago I wasn't aware and in 5 minutes from now I will adapt around them again.
Some people get HPPD so bad that they cannot drive or write properly anymore. Same with tinnitus, some people have it so bad it's like clanging bells in one or both ears 24/7. These are both super rare conditions, but the publishing of them online, the discussion about them, and the prevalence of Dr Google leads people to stress unnecessarily about their own harmless minor conditions.

Yeah no i used to have serious hppd after shrooms
Its like noticing things that arent real on top of your vision
LSD u take a small hit and u carry the experience, shrooms hit all at once and effect visual areas of the brain
Again i never normalize this because for 10 percent of people it might be something else But flickering lights, Rings, waves and like objects made of static noise

I haven't done any psychedelics for over 10 years, and I still have HPPD. Not severe but lines in floor tiles still get all weird and shimmery when I look at the floor. It is mostly apparent in the men's locker room at the gym that I go to. But I'm mostly looking at dong anyway in there.

Its my estimate that of people who have tripped a bunch of times about one in ten gets HPPD to some extent for some period.
If shrooms had a side effects insert, HPPD would be in the "common" category.
Its usually mild though but it has ruined people lives and drove them o suicide.

I think for me it was the dozen or so 20mg 2c-e trips.

2C-E indeed is quite visual, its the very visual ones that do it more. 2C-I is notorious for it.
