I also had similar thoughts in times passed. People who have done nbomes too much also report it as a common side effect, and nbomes are an analogue of the 2c family.
DMT gave me shocking HPPD when I was doing it a lot. There were times when I'd be sat there and wonder for a moment whether or not I was about to break through without even smoalking, sudden and strong visuals overtaking my vision. Then within 10 seconds or so it would fade back to "normal" noisy.

There was a period of time where I did a fair amount of acid. 3-8 hits about every week for 6-7 months. I do think it did something permanently. Now if I get panic attacks, one of the main symptoms is visual snow and sort of purple-electric geometric squares show up in my vision. If I am in a room with the lights off, my white blinds look like pale rainbow. It really only happens when I get panic, not like normal anxiety before going on a first date or giving a presentation.
At the time I mixed it with A LOT of nitrous and alcohol sometimes. I am not sure how much the nitrous influenced or enhanced the LSD to maybe make these symptoms worse.
It's not the worst thing in the world, but I do wish I didn't have it. Last time I took acid was about 8 years ago. I did notice it about 2-3 years ago but didn't think much of it until I moved to a new city and had a series of panic attacks over a couple of months.

As long as I'm not surrounded by people offering lots of distractions I can pretty much zone out and consciously influence the nature of the visual disturbances to my liking if I'm on the verge of some sort of anxiety attack. I don't have as much success with true panic attacks because they happen so fast, but as the intensity ebs I can regain control over the insane visuals that pretty much distract me from actual sensory input from the physical world around me.

It's a similar feeling and state of mind to when I have sleep paralysis and intentionally break out of that and enter a lucid dream state

i kind of suspect that at least some of HPPD isn't due to drug use at all, but is simply natural phenomena - visual tinnitus if you will, something people normally filter out, but if you pay attention or if it's brought to your attention (such as via psychedelics or other drugs) it can suddenly become obvious, or even impossible to ignore sometimes.
i say this because well before i ever took psychedelics, as a kid, i would often stare at the ceiling of my room and see faces or other images in the textured pattern there out of boredom. or, after drawing inspiration from a book about a lady with a house where everything was upside down (the roof was the floor and so on) i would try imagining that the floor was now the ceiling and i was now lying upside down - with enough practice i would actually start to perceive it, even almost feel like gravity was pulling me up. and i've always seeing visual "snow", almost like the static on your tv, but much fainter, when i wanted to - invisible until i try to see the air in front of me, then it's obvious.
on occasion, i've also seen tiny dots of colored lights floating in the air, usually sky blue, though rarely other colors like yellow or green, moving like fireflies for half a second before vanishing, generally in the corner of my eye. theyre as tiny as a pinprick, and they alternate between bright and pitch black at really fast speed, like strobe lights. they only last for a moment before vanishing, and are extremely rare though. no clue what kind of visual phenomena they are - i mainly saw them when i was younger, and rarely see them nowadays.
one doesn't need psychedelics to see the world in an unusual perspective, that's for sure.

The blue ones like fireflies sound like blue field entoptic phenomenon, which isn't the same as HPPD or static since it isn't "noise." The blue wisps are white blood cells moving through the capillaries in front of your retinae, and most people can see them against sky blue background if they pay attention.

i've read about that, and seen that, but it's not that at all - these are singular, not covering the entire field like BFEP. they're also also very, VERY, tiny and bright - i'm not joking about the strobe light comparison. they look like pinprick strobe lights, on and off bright color and pitch blackness. the blue wisps you're talking about i've seen, but those are larger and look like... well, transparent wisps. they move like critters. these move more like dust motes that wink out of existence after a fraction of a second, and there's always only one of them at a time. it also happens indoors as often as outdoors, and in darkness as often as light - though i can't remember ever seeing them with my eyes closed. o.O

I’ve just read some serious cases of HPPD and I sometimes will have LSD binges where I’ll take it once a week for like 1.5 months or whatever... which is too often but I’ve been getting drug tested for like 18 months and can’t smoke weed so yeah.
I stop getting tested in under a month, and going to smoke weed and get off kratom and get my life right. I like weed because it’s introspective for me, even after smoking for 15 years. Especially after my psychedelic use, I think weed will be a little different.

i've had psych binges of 1-2 times a week for several months and had no issues. =p if you're feeling worried about your psych usage, however, then that's a sign you should probably slow it down, if only because such worries are going to give you bad vibes during a trip. slow it down till you feel comfortable about your usage again, and go from there.
psychs are a tool. sometimes it's useful to have a crutch to lean on while your mind heals, but at some point the crutch has to be let go of - once the mind is strong enough to stand on it's own, you gotta actually do so and let those mental muscles get stronger. it might be your mind is telling you it's time to take a break and get into some hobbies, like art, and develop that inner strength.
once you have, maybe then go back to psychedelics, and use them as a different tool, for reflecting on your inner world and gaining greater insights to yourself.
