Grow !T brand Coco coir / Colonization problems

Anyone ever have any issues with monotubs not colonizing fully?
Im pasterizing coco coir and verm to field capacity and then mixing in 4-5 quarts of fully colonized rye, leveling it out before gently patting it down, then putting the lid on and leaving it to colonize.
The first couple days you can see the grains that were mixed getting fuzzy and starting to colonize nicely. This is about 8 days in and it never fully colonizes at the top - You can still see alot of brown. It almost seems like it gets to a certain point and it stalls. Ive been having this issue for awhile now.
The only thing that Im doing different is I switched to a brand of coir called "Grow !T" by hydro farms. Its all I could find because of the pandemic thing. - I bought several bricks of it. I've searched the forums on here and seen that other people use it and have success. Really clueless and starting to become frustrated!!
The tote I did before this (Different strain) was the same way not vigorously white and colonized like a tote usually should be.It eventually started pinning and I introduced fruiting. I only got a wimpy 42 grams dried off that one after 3 flushes and they were wimpy fruits. Surprisingly it didnt start to mold untill the 3rd flush was nearly done. Terrible though. Dunno what Im doing wrong anymore. Im use to vigorously white colonization in the totes.
I have several years of experience working with grains and bulk and use a lamanar flow hood. Never really had this issue before. I'm kind of clueless at this point and becoming frustrated.
Heres a picture of the tote *Its hard see from the lid because the moisture inside of it.
Heres a picture of the brand of coir im using also * On the back of the coir package it says its OEM all natural and heat treated* Dunno if that would make a differnce... people on here say they have success with this brand though..
Anyone have any ideas, suggestions etc? Please help.

You think I should lift the lid for a picture sense its not fully colonized?
Ill take a picture here in a few.
Heres how the last tote looked - This one looks the same at the surface but isnt fruiting yet

Yea man if your mycelium is at that stage where itβs consuming substrate and continuing to grow and spread some, exposing it to fresh air to take a couple pics wonβt hurt anything

Only time I've seen spotty colonization like this is from a mold that grew along with my jars. This wasn't a mold you could pick out until it was spawned too. Growing just like the myc and then becoming this gray wispy myc that grew over everything. Not saying this is what's happening, only looks it from the pics.

Im confused as to what it could be..
I work with a flow hood and am extremely cautious about sterile procedures. All my jars look good before I use them.
Maybe I got some odd mold that is effecting all my jars. I dunno..

Yep actually I just looked at your other pic, the one from the link. That's gotta be bacteria or mold inhibiting growth, or use a different coir as some have antifungal treatments.

That was a thought as well that it could be bad coir even though it says its all natural oem and other people on here have vouched for that brand.
I switched the vermiculite I was using and that wasnt the problem. The only other thing I can think of is the rye seed but even that is from the same local vendor Ive been using for years.
I guess its time to experiment and try different basic supplies and go from there π¬

Did you put a thin pseudocasing of coir over the top? If not, I would guess that the "spots" are from colonized grains that are just near the surface. Personally I don't see anything alarming yet.

I didnt add any thin casing of coir on the top. I've tried doing that and the past and it worked well, but ive always just mixed the coir and grains and it has always grown vigorously like the whole cake would be white.
Im starting to think I have bunk coco coir. From what Im reading I guess it might have added trich to it for mj growing.

IMO, wait another week. If you see green/gray/etc before then, yeah abort mission, but 14 days until pinning isn't unusual.

Bodhisatta, have you ever used that brand with the bucket tek? Do you have any idea whats wrong with my totes that they keep turning out like this?
I always used to have great success using the bucket tek and heard that with using coir you don't really have to even pasturize it, thats why I figured theres something wrong with my coir.
Maybe its this batch of spores im using π. A few weeks ago you commented on a post I made about my grain jars. The grain jars arent really ropey and agressive mycelium after they're fully colonized either. At least not like I remember having in the past. Do you think bad genetics could cause this to be the outcome with my mono tubs? This is this the seventh differnt strain I've tried out of this batch π¬

I guess I just have terrible luck and its bad genetics lol π. Always went with the same vendor - TSD but they're closed / out of business now.
