Coir is dry in front of the holes/entrances
    #27036592 - 11/13/20 08:38 AM (4 years, 2 months ago)

Hey guys. A question.. I have loose polyfill in all holes for FAE (doing Damion5050 tek), and the hygrometer says 99% RH. It takes like only a minute to reach 99% after I have opened it and dropped the RH. So it seems like the mushrooms gets good FAE and RH still stays at 99%. But my question is, the soil/coir is dry in front of the holes/entrances, like 2cm forward. But on the rest of the substrate there are lots of mini drops of water. Does it matter that it is dry at the entrances? Should I have tighter polyfill there or is it no problem?

Is there any air flow that would be causing those spots to dry up?

No or I mean I have no fan in the room or anything like that. It's just ordinary FAE air flow coming through there. Do you think I Should put more polyfill there?

Yes, adding more polyfil will fix that issue, or if you're using micropore tape you could ad another layer.

Thanks, then I adjust it now. I'm also wondering if I should remove one top polyfill though? What do you think about that? How do you do with your polyfill, do you have any holes open during fruiting?

Here's some good examples of my tubs. I employ both micropore tape and polyfil. I find polyfil to be easier to use than micropore tape.
I never have any open holes on a container. they're all covered with micropore or polyfil.
