Just got "kicked out" of the park... at what point can a ranger escalate things legally?

I was walking around, browsing wood chips in a pretty public area of the park (Point Defiance, be warned folks). I hadn't picked anything (I certainly intended to, but rangers need not be informed of that). The worst crime they could possibly accuse me of was... leaning over. I guess. Anyways, a ranger walks up to me shaking his head and waggling his finger in my face and says, "You need to leave the park now. There's no mushroom picking here, that's illegal." I was taken by surprise, so I just said okay and "left"... as in I just walked to the other side of the park to pick. I don't expect any legal trouble from that particular encounter, but for future reference, they can only take action if they 1) see me picking 2) find shrooms on my person, right? Also.. the "illegal" statement, isn't it only illegal if I'm picking actives? I've heard many people pick edible mushrooms here with no trouble whatsoever. Perhaps I have criminal energy --p.s. fuck narcs

America is so weird. Were you exploring out of boundaries? Can a park ranger ask one to leave if one wasn't doing any wrong?

https://www.metroparkstacoma.org/places/conduct-in-our-parks/ According to legal documents, picking any type of fungus there isn't allowed. I wouldn't normally respond to someone referring to specific picking locations, since it is against the rules, but I think it's important that you know the legal restrictions for your areas of choice.
But yeah, fuck cops. I'm glad I live in a place where nobody knows anything about mushroom hunting, especially not the cops

The hired a ranger a couple years back due to problems with vandalism, drugs, alcohol, and people driving the 5 mile like Tokyo drift. Also, don't feed the fucking racoons on the 5 mile!
I have always been sketched out by this park. Tons of great habitat, but too many people.

So basically, don't touch and don't look anything or you are a potential suspect. Quoting from the site mentioned above:
"8.27.100 Damage or removal of plants prohibited
Unauthorized cutting, removal, or destruction of any turf, tree, plant, shrub, flower, or seaweed on park property is prohibited. While inside any park, having in one’s possession any newly-plucked branch, tree, flower, plant, fungus (mushrooms, shelf fungus, etc.), algae (seaweed, etc.), or shrub without specific permission shall be presumptive evidence of such unauthorized cutting, removal, or destruction."
"B. When any Metropolitan Park District of Tacoma employee or any police officer has probable cause to believe that a person has committed any of the following violations while in a park, he or she may require that person to leave the park immediately. Any person who remains on park property after being required to leave by a Metropolitan Park District of Tacoma employee or by a police officer, or who enters any park during the period of exclusion, is guilty of criminal trespass and may be arrested and prosecuted under the Tacoma Municipal Code."

As a foreigner living in America, what a strict place yet so much crime on all spheres.

Says they don't want people picking anything at all.
Is this a really busy park or something? They make it sound like people were destroying the park before they started enforcing those rules.
