I am reading between the lines that while we may not know if it is P aztecorum or P. baeocystis, it is not a dangerous look-alike.
Is that right?

The blue-bruising, hygrophanous cap, viscid cap, and purplish spore deposit (which I don't totally see in your photo) together are pretty decent indicators that you have an active Psilocybe. I wouldn't eat them (if you are considering that) until you feel confident in an ID, to the species level. But, I'm pretty conservative when it comes to wild mushrooms. See what others here (especially the TIs) say as well though.

Well the supposed collection from Maine, if memory serves, wasn't all that well documented, so I'm not sure if that's really what it was

I remember that thread.

Interesting find!! To me they could be aztecorum but im not sure at all...They look a little different. Also I didn't found aztecorum close to the Vermont/Québec border, it was caerulipes. Good luck!!
