Animal abuse - chickens.

I'm so pissed off right now.
Years ago I had some pre made chicken curry from a frigging shop round here called Sainsbury's. After eating it in a dream I was shown a revelation by some spirit guide how the chicken in my curry endured unimaginable suffering by slaughter house workers. And that particular chicken was sold under name round here called "taste the difference" by sainsbury's which supposed to be top shelf product, yea... taste the shit. I never bought meat products from that fucking supermarket again.
I've been buying chicken from a shop round here called Tesco. I been buying their "tescos finest organic" label which is similar to taste the crap from sainsburies, and I been making home curry with it. Last night I was shown another vision while sleeping, how the chicken I consumed been tortured and abused again.
I dont care if u believe or not in these spiritual revelations, I cant argue that, but it's a known fact animals in slaughter houses are abused, thre must be 100s of videos and stories out there.
Bloody bastards, I was buying their "organic" range just for this reason cos it says on packaging chickens raised with high standards of care, obviously not. Shit eating scum.

Sounds like you are guilty about your chicken habits.
Maybe you can buy them local free range? My sister has 20 some chickens, but she lives in the country side. Killing her first chicken was quite the experience, but ultimately when you are going to eat it, it is better to know how the chicken lived and died. I tried to get a few chickens, they are allowed in my city, but my wife shot me down.

Nothing to do with killing chickens for food
It's when they are abused and tortured and suffer for no reason that matters

The key is to let your chicken sleep in your bed, because there's nowhere better to choke your chicken.

In all seriousness it is awful obviously what chickens are subjected to. It's horrific, honestly. I still eat chicken though
But yes I would prefer like any semi-decent individual that they be treated as humanely as possible...even though I know that is very likely not the case in most instances. Unfortunately.

you could always buy lab-grown chicken meat. no, seriously! wait, why are you running away?!? it's humane, better for the environment, and it's just damn tissue cultures!
granted, the texture still needs some tweaking (since they need to be exercised, being, you know, muscles without any chicken attached for exercise and the like) among things like lowered cost, but economy of scale would easily take care of that - lab grown meat is estimated to be far healthier for the environment and cheaper once that takes place, requiring less land use, producing far less methane emissions, less water usage, and of course, no animals are harmed. probably no antibiotic usage or other nasty things needed either - tissue cultures are pretty much done in sterile environments, so the meat would be pretty clean. it kind of need to would be, since it would be missing the animals natural immune defenses and liver/kidneys/etc to defend the cells against toxins and the like.
there's already some experimental products starting to show up, restaurants and the like with lab grown meat, but it will probably be a few years before it starts to become more mainstream - assuming Americans can get over their fear factor.
in the meantime, i guess you could always go for the fake meat products, such as beyond meat, which i hear are pretty good plant based fakes. i've not tried it yet, mostly because i'm not much of a meat eater to begin with <_<; i keep forgetting to try one of those things. they're an OK seller at my store though, which isn't too shabby considering it's a tiny town of a few thousand residents.

I try to buy free range eggs when I can.. never the “organic vegetarian fed” the only way they can certify that is by keeping them in confinement. Chickens eat bugs and grain... I never understood why they would try to market them as vegetarian fed.... vegetarians aren’t eating them.

That’s true, I forgot about that. .. but still. I’m sure it’s mostly for moral reasons in most cases. Lots of buzz words used on packaging to give you a warm and fuzzy and they can charge more. There needs to be stricter labeling requirements and their true definition. I think there’s at least a requirement for “humanely raised” requiring that they have access to clean pasture outdoors ect. I like the ideas of those roving coops.

Yeah that'd be cool. The fake stuff is getting pretty good. The impossible burger is pretty close to the taste and texture of beef such that you might not notice the difference if someone didn't tell you.

To meet the legal requirements to be free range, you only need to have access for the chickens to go outside even if they never leave the building.
The only way to ensure you are getting what you want is too raise them yourself but most all the chickens we eat today for commercial sale with breasts that are the size of your hand wouldn't survive a summers day outside.
The free range we think of as consumers is not what the law requires to be a free range commercial product. Remember we don't write these laws, the corporations lobbyists do.
A free range label is like giving the sleeping student an E for effort. Also a nice mark up in price like a brand name. I guess it's the thought that counts. Like that picture of the classic farmers red barn when in reality it's just a huge stinky ass grey shed filled with chicken that grow so fast there legs break from the weight of there own bodies.
But hey taste's good right and no blood on our axes.
I prefer a saki rubbed down cow that listens to slayer 8 hours a day, now that's some good hell bent for leather eating!!
