Gymnopilus Regrowth

I'm wondering if Gymnopilus will grow back in the same location they were picked?
When I forage Ovoids I can go back a few days later and pick new sprouts growing in the same spot. Are Gyms the same way? Will they regrow in the same season?
Any knowledge is appreciated.

They are if you cut them at the stem when harvesting them. If you pull up the mycelium theres a chance it could ruin the growth of the original spot

I seen spots, that's within a few feet, fruit over multiple years.

They tend to re-appear in the same spots each year, but only occasionally do they fruit again in the exact same spot during the same season

I have observed what was previously described as g junious growing on the same stump for 11 years. I remember seeing them long before I knew anything about mushrooms. Probably been there longer than that too that's just how long I've been watching them. They digest the wood very slowly and the massive spore deposits ensure they will continue to do so until the substrate is entirely consumed.

Given the right conditions there is no reason why gyms should not flush repeatedly. Just as one can get multiple flushes in shroom grows, its no different.

I've had the same patches of Gyms fruiting in my yard in the same spot for several months now. Just don't mess the mycelium up and it'll be fine.

Have you ever tried to/been able to get the organisms to fruit more/more often? I'm wondering if dropping rainwater, for example, might get them producing more.

In nature I have seen gyms of at least one species fruit at weekly intervals three weeks in a row under good weather conditions intermittent light rain. If the weaher is dry and the log dries out you can be sure that fruiting will stop. It needs "free water", that is water supplied from outside in order to grow and fruit. Shitake growers may water their logs 2-3 times a week or at four to fie day intervals from what I have read. So if the weather is not supplying that water I think its a very good idea to help it along. Just avoid anything chlorinated. If your really keen one could even find ways to inoculate additional logs.
