Shoe box questions?

Hello.
I am doing some shoeboxes instead of monos at the moment to test the waters with some new cultures (and I have had a lot of contam issues in the past so it's less of an emotional investment!).
My question is: What are people's preferred ways of doing shoeboxes? I know this is a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' question but I am hoping someone will take pity on me!
The teks here have many different ideas, mainly my questions are:
If you leave the lids on for the whole process is it better to have clear / opaque lids for the light to get in?
Is it OK to stack? I have a couple stacked at the moment with the lids turned upside down (as they have clips on).
If you left the lids on, could the process the basically 'set and forget' until the first flush?
Any help would be mega as I love the hobby and I would like to get cracking again

awhile ago i did a shoebox tek. I used the regular lid to cover it during colonization and would put another shoebox ontop when its time to fruit. In the ones I used there was a little gap in the front and back that was where i got my fae. You could cover those if ude like and drill a hole in the front and back and use polyfil if u need more fae though. For me they were a pain in the ass and not worth it. Lots of sidepins for some reason, like a lot more than big monos. Dont recommend but if you want to try it u should, that is just my experience

This is a interesting question i was thinking, shoeboxes may be good to test cultures, specially when coming from MS. In my first grow I did a mini 20 quarts, decent yield B+ but very low potency, I wonder if I went bigger on a 60+ mono, I would have mushs forever with a low potency.
And regarding potency I see colleagues saying just eat more, I don’t think it’s the correct way specially because I’m new on mushs, like if I eat 2 g feel nothing then go for more 2 and have the luck to have a very strong specimen, gonna go to mars without a back ticket. Potency isn’t the issue, consistence is.
So if you play on agar starting from a MSS or SP you will have several plates to test, grow on 3 or 4 shoeboxes, colect samples to clone and eat it to test potency, when you found what you looking for you have tissue and you can go bigger on a monotube. Don’t know if bunk mushs are common or I’m unlucky but I plan to that to increase the chances on my side.
