Can partially colonized grain spawn be refrig'd for 3 months to "pause" process?
    #27034962 - 11/12/20 10:13 AM (4 years, 2 months ago)

Hello folks,

New member.  I am new to cultivation although over the last few months I have gotten 3 flushes of Golden Teacher from a Spawn bag transferred to a fruiting chamber.  I now have a bunch of partially colonized grain spawn jars from experiments in petri dishes and liquid culture.

So I was all excited about transferring these once they fully colonize into bulk substrate.  However I just got notified that I have to go on a trip for 3-4 months.  If I refrigerate these jars will the mycelium just go dormant and resume when I get back?  Any other suggestions?

Thank you so much for any advice...

I can't speak to the max time you can keep jars in the fridge, but I've kept them for ~2 months, taken them out, and fruited them in a monotub without issue.  Not sure whether it's necessary, but I like to let them sit out for a day or two to warm up before breaking them up into the substrate.
