Lib identification please - UK
    #26979957 - 10/11/20 12:40 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Hi,
In light of not being able to get to Amsterdam this year I went out Liberty hunting today and found these. Please could someone confirm that they are Liberty Caps?

They were found in the NW on marshy grassland. Stems are quite pale in colour and gills are dark brown.

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks

Welcome to the shroomery.
It appears as though you might have a mixed collection.

While Most do appear to be Psilocybe semilanceata.
There are a couple on the left side that look a little suspect. Make sure that they all have dark brown-purple spores & that they all share the same general characteristics. Also check any for brittle caps/stems.

Single out any that you’re still unsure of and post additional photos here.

hey, only tried shrooms once (when travelling in Australia) so have no knowledge whatsoever. My friend picked a load in a field last week in South East England and gave them to me in a carrier bag but i've only just gotten them out and it's made a really gooey/mushy (excuse the pun) texture. I've filtered through the grass and wet stuff (2nd pic) to pick out some dry bits (1st pic), any advice on whether they're usable or worth it, or what to do?! Any info would be great! Might just be a case of throw all away and go hunting myself? I can take closer pics in better light if needed.

It looks like the 3rd one in pic 1 is a liberty cap, its really hard to identifiy when they are decomposed and gooey though, so they could all be libs.

To be honest it would be best to chuck them away and go for a hunt.

Kind of need to start drying them within a day or two max, or make tea asap that will then keep in the fridge.

Mybe ask your friend about some good spots, they should be plenty around for the next few weeks.

If it's your first time, take somewhere between 1/2 to 1 gram dried.

How about these? I have about 30 in total now. I think there's some dark blue/purple bruising

Look all like libs to me. You could check for a purple/brown spore print and a separate gelatinous pellicle to be really sure. Safe journeys :mushroom2:
