Mean green mold * 1
    #27033722 - 11/11/20 04:19 PM (3 years, 3 months ago)

hello. often having green mold and a lot of times it starts or gets really bad on the sides. any thoughts on that and why it may be? ( why it likes the sides so much)

also had a few surface contamination ( think maybe it is coming from unmodified tubs plus exposed grains.

started using a casing layer to see if that helps next will be modified tub.

does casing layer help with contamination or cross contamination?

Is there any way to fight it off or keep it at bay if there is a bad tub to get it to finish flush without releasing spores everywhere?

if it gets to moist and not enough fae will that also contribute to contamination? Have been worrying that.

Honestly with a moldy tub you should immediately harvest all unaffected fruits and toss the substrate.
When you start to see green it means that the mold is already sporulating, the green color are the spores.
You should use a casing layer, but mold will grow anywhere it can.
You may have pasteurized/sterilized casing but if you expose it to an environment that contains mold spore you will in most cases get trich or green meanie molds.
I suggest harvesting what can be salvaged, printing for spores, and starting over.
Moist substrates are fine, but with good FAE.
I have found that a modified tub is easier (for me anyways) to dial in.
Lastly I suggest you clean your grow area and use an SAB to inoculate your jars.
