First Time Inoculating a Grain Bag. Need Advice
    #27033409 - 11/11/20 01:00 PM (3 years, 2 months ago)

After having a relatively unsuccessful grow with the classic PF Tek method using jars and cakes (I was able to grow some mushrooms but the fruits were small and not plentiful), I want to try a bulk grow with inoculated grain spawn. I ordered 2 3lb. bags of sterilized grains from northspore.com and my main question is, how many cc's of liquid grain spawn should I inject into the bags? I know some people frown on using liquid culture and prefer to inoculate with agar but I think this is the easiest method for me as a noob. I've heard some people suggest using anywhere from 2cc's to 5 cc's or even an entire syringe. Is there a benefit to using more spores as opposed to less? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Grains don't take to spores aswell as brf cakes, it can be rough
I agree with you it's the easiest method, but also the biggest gamble
If the syringe is nice and thick with spores you could do as little as 1cc and have most of your syringe left over, just don't add too much.
Less is more in this case, less chance to transfer contamination.

Using liquid culture for grain is not frowned upon. Using spore solution on grains IS frowned upon thou. Spore solution and Liquid Culture are two different things.
