Next step after first harvest from monotub?
    #27032460 - 11/10/20 10:50 PM (3 years, 3 months ago)

I have Nepal Chitwan growing in a monotub. It has given me a plentiful first harvest, but I'm not sure when to proceed to dunking or if any step comes before.

There are several new big ones coming along with smaller ones of various sizes and more pins starting to form (some of the pins aborted after harvest but I assume this is expected). I'm not sure if I should be misting more or fanning more to encourage pins.

There have also been some really small fruits that mature and open, is this because of lack of nutrients? I have great FAE, the only things I worry about sometimes are nutrients and water.

My substrate is only about 2 inches. I feel pretty alright about the moisture level because it's warm and has droplets along each side. There is however some buildup under the trash bag the substrate, I hope this is OK and won't cause mold issues or anything.

(tl,dr) I just harvested my first mature shrooms and now there's various shroom sizes and I don't know if I should fan, mist, or dunk.

The most important thing to do after harvest is to produce spore prints as per Bod's easy AF spore printing tek.

Then you need to find a method of drying them property. Mushrooms that are not very very dry will go bad over time.

If you want, make a clone on agar to improve future grows.

I'd allow the cake to rest a few days after harvest, aborted mushrooms are normal

After first harvest it may be a good idea to soak your cake for a few hours.

Mist it lightly when it looks dry
