Dentist took 5 minutes to extract my wisdom tooth!
    #27032106 - 11/10/20 06:32 PM (3 years, 2 months ago)

Prior to today, the last time I got a wisdom tooth pulled was several years ago and it took the dentist about a good hour. Today I got another wisdom tooth pulled because it fucking hurts like hell when I get food stuck between the teeth. After I was numb it literally took him 5 fucking minutes to pull the tooth out. It could have been even less time than that. It takes a Starbucks barista longer to make a drink than it did for him to extract the tooth. Very pleased with the service. Now my mouth tastes like fucking blood and I'm going to take two hydrocodones. And then I need to figure out what the hell I'm going to eat all week.

In Holland they remove two wisdom teeth at a time, one upper one lower on one side, then another appointment for the same on the other side.

You are literally given Ibuprofen in a strength available without prescription.

Nitrous oxide and opioids are unknown in Dutch dentistry.

I don't need all four of them out. This one I only wanted it out because it fucking hurts like hell when food gets in between it and then I have to shovel it out with floss. Well I won't need to worry about that anymore.

I had all four of mine removed 20 years ago.  They put me under HEAVY.  I woke up at one point in the middle of it and I only remember the pressure of the surgeons knee on my chest, sounds like concrete breaking, babbling voices, then out again.  Apparently they hit me again with the good drugs.  My wife had to just about carry me out 4 hours after I was supposed to have been awake.

Hope ur teeth feel better. Once u find a skilled dentist or oral surgeon its hard to trust anyone else. I'm sure its case by case but I remember mine being very similar. My guys great hes the best guy. I feel like I remember the paperwork taking longer than the procedure its unbelievable. It also helps during the healing too to not have the guy butcher it. Also less swelling and bleeding means less pain. I think wisdom teeth is such a common procedure most of these people are quite proficient for having done so many.

In Canada they remove all the teeth you ask them to remove.

I got an X-ray that said I had 6 wisdom teeth...  Not kidding,  4 in the upper teeth and 2 lower.

I expected a horrific recovery.

It was absolutely painless and took only an hour.

I fucking love my current dentist. Dr. Joseph Vu DDS in Escondido California. I'm totally giving him free advertising right now. I even moved a whole hour away and I still drive an hour to get work done by him because I really don't want to even try finding another dentist that does such efficient work for a good price. He's really honest too.

Thank god I don't have inferior genetics so I don't need to have my wisdom teeth extracted.

Yeah, although the ibuprofen was also on request and not by default iirc. Standard advise was "just take a paracetamol if it hurts" and that was that.

That has absolutely nothing to do with needing to get a wisdom tooth pulled out.

It kinda does. If your wisdom teeth don't fit properly, your jaw is too small.

Haha, yeah, nearly all of those things are true. Except the 'euthanasia is there for efficiency reasons' - but other than that, it's pretty accurate. I can see why it seems strange for people from other countries, but most of those practices make perfect sense within our rendition of the healthcare system. Only the lack of systematic checkups is something that I think should be debated. Of course we have them for specific cases, but not for the general population.

Navy dentist only took about 1 minute to pull all of mine out
They gave me 4 aspirins and a 12hr rack pass
I spit blood for 3 days :crankey:

What the fuck? My dentist gave me a bunch of gauze and some directions for the following week. The directions included keeping a thick piece of gauze right on top of the wisdom hole on my gum and to bite hard on it to stop the bleeding and to replace the gauze every 30 minutes for 3 hours. My mouth tasted like blood for those three hours but I wasn't bleeding after that. if a dentist didn't want to give me a painkiller I would be arguing with him in his office. When I was 12 years old my mom took me to get a filling done and I asked the dentist if he uses a local anesthetic and he said no. I was only twelve and I told him look I'm not getting this work done if you're not going to use a local anesthetic first. He just wanted to argue and tell me oh I don't use local anesthetic blah blah blah. Well then I will go do business at another dentist's office and fuck off.

There are some people who hypothesize that the jaw actually is to small to fit wisdom teeth. However, they say it’s not due to race, but more due to things like your early diet after you were born, the way you swallow (whether you push forward or backward with your tongue), posture, etc.. There are even some pictures of certain populations that converted from a traditional fibrous diet to a softer diet. Over one generation the occurrences of malocclusions increased drastically

You can search orthotropics if that kind of stuff interests you
