50/50 Horse Poo/Peat Moss Compost Question

Hello Shroomery Community!
I am excited to make my first post in this great community! I have a couple questions to do with my grow that I'm having a hard time figuring out on the forum (maybe its a little specific). Im currently growing 2 strains of cubes I picked up off of Zenith spores here in Canada (A+ and Jedi Mind fuck).
I started out inoculating 3 1/2 pint BRF cakes with each strain. The jedi mind fuck jas took off and is about ready for birthing, the A+ has been strugglimg a bit but I'm pretty sure it's because the syringe has very few visible spores. I was going to do the classic shotgun chamber; however, I really wanted to get right into the mini monotub setup so I've bought 4 18.9 litre shoeboxes where I would shred my BRF cakes with a grated then mix with my bulk su strate.
NOW FOR MY QUESTION, I was able to pick up some 5-7 year old horse poo compost; however the stalls were layed with pete moss so the mix is at about 50/50. The texture of it is similar to fine coco coir at field capacity. Was wondering if this stuff is usable and if there's a tek or any ideas floating around out there that could help me use this peaty pooy goodness!
Cheers!

I would fruit them like cakes if you want guaranteed shrooms.
Shredding involves risk, and with spores I wouldn't risk it.

What leads you to believe there would be a contamination risk?
Same idea as ground beef, that the contams can be all mixed in?

Just my 2 cents I agree with The Mycologist. Fruit them as BRF cakes first, then get some prints and stuff to have a good supply of prints available to you without having to buy syringes again. It’s better to have something, even if small, then to have nothing. Fruit the JMF in SGFC and then if the A+ do something, shred them for shoeboxes. At least you’ll have something from the JMF.
Also too, might want to edit where you bought your syringes from. It’s kinda frowned upon to post other vendors that aren’t Shroomery Sponsers publicly. Good Luck the rest of the way!!

Alright thanks for that response. This is pretty much what I was thinking would be the smart/safe option so I'll go for that if you both think the same. Cheers for your feedback, much appreciated!!
Just looking to see if anyone has any insights into my main question on the horse poo/peat moss mix? I just mixed it around and it looks like it's less peat moss, more poo which I can assume is a good sign!

Peat is used in casings.
But I use coir because its super contam resistant and easy to work with. Spawn to bulk with coir, then you can just do a pseudo casing with coir and youre done.

Sounds good! Probably a 50/50 mix of poo to coir eh? Also what do you guys think about adding 1/3 vermiculite?

Lots of people have used Hpoo, and to be honest it’s something I’m going to be working towards myself, wife has 2 horses and if I can get more substrate for free, bonus for me. Throwing verm in would probably help with water retention so maybe a 50 Coir/30Hpoo/20Verm, do it have any experience with it, but more Coir would probably be best. I don’t see any issue using your Hpoo with peat, but I have to asked the question, you plan on pasteurize going it though right??

Yeah, absolutely! Will be pasteurizing the mix (when I finalize proportions) in 1 pint jars in my pressure cooker at 15 psi for 120 mins. I've seen a lot of different lid teks but I think I'll just keep it simple and use just tin foil on top.
I'm thinking I'll end up doing a 40/40/20 coco/poo/verm since there's added peat moss, grass and organic debris in the horse poo. Let me know your thoughts, very solid advice so far and very helpful!

Ummm, like I said, I haven’t taking the leap to pasteurizing Hpoo yet, but I don’t think you want to PC it. Pasteurizing is all about proper temps to get rid of the bad contamination and keeping the healthy stuff. I think, and don’t quote me on this, but I think you want as high of a temp as 170f and low of 140f. If you put your sub in the PC and cook for 2hrs at 15psi, those temps would get to roughly 250f and that would sterilize it instead of pasteurizing, and I don’t think/know if you want that. Maybe keep the lid off the PC, and get yourself a thermometer and stick it in the middle of a jar of sub and monitor that way. To have the internal temp get to 170 and then turn everything off, put the lid of it and let it sit and “percolate” (for lack of a better term) I dunno man, maybe someone with more experience can chime in, hopefully cause I feel like I’m just regurgitating other peoples info/research and not 100% confident in myself.

Pressure cookers with the lid on get way to hot for pasteurization. They sterilize.
You need to fill the water up like half way up the side of the jars and try to hold the interior subsrtate temp at 170 for an hour straight. Too high or too low fucks it up.
Thats why we keep recommending coir, no pasteurization required. No room for error in spawn prep.
