Whimpy Fruits ... Any ideas as to why?
    #27031427 - 11/10/20 10:52 AM (3 years, 2 months ago)

As part of this experiment, also just in the interest of dialing in fruiting conditions in my greenhouse, I have a number of grows happening.  The first to "bear fruit" was this jar of grain:

Keep in mind these are fruiting directly from WBS, with a small casing layer of Jiffy Mix (a modified V-TEK).  They're inside a GH with a fan inside for circulation and 2 PC fans (one blowing air out the top, the other blowing air in from the bottom).  The interior fan runs for 3 minutes every 20 minutes to move air inside the tent, and the intake and exhaust fans run for 1 minute every 10 minutes to facilitate FAE.  I have a reptile fogger on a humidity regulator to provide rH (usually between 85-95%, depending on fans running and whatnot).  There is one flood lamp (5000K) in the closet above the tent that is typically on 12 hours a day.

Does this seem like a problem with FAE, bad moisture levels one way or the other, or perhaps poor lighting?

Surface conditions look good to my eyes.  There are beads of moisture on the casing layer but no pooling.

I have a hard time imagining there is insufficient FAE, but I'm definitely open to tweaking the fans' running time.

My sense is the lighting is not great, but I was also thinking "great" lighting isn't critical, especially for cubes.  The tent itself is semi-transparent.  I'm wondering if it would help to get 6500k lighting and bring it into the tent.

Of course, in the end it may not be due to FC at all.  Could always be genetics, could also be that I'm adapting the V-TEK using WBS and not really paying attention to isolating the best strains to grow this way.

Just curious if anything jumps out at more experienced growing regarding my FC in the tent, as now is the time I really want to dial it in if possible.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
