Brusing vs trich

I haven't had trich since I started with a flow hood. I shook my jars a week ago and they're pretty much colonised. I'm not sure if I just never noticed it or it's popped up. Seems to be a blueish colour. The pic isn't the best I know. I did get bruising when I shook the jars. I just want a second opinion on this. Also it hasn't grown any bigger in 12 hours

i don't think anyone's going to be able to give you an answer with 100% confidence. but the good news is that you shook it and it recovered. usually when grain is contaminated, it won't recover after a shake or the contamination will be more evident. it doesn't look like any contamination i've ever seen before. my guess is it's just a dry ugly grain kernel with some bruised dry mycelium. keep an eye on it and see if it grows or changes in any way.

Yeah this myc is super aggressive. Best performance I've seen so far.. As I haven't had a lot of experience with trich do you know if it spreads quickly? I'm gonna keep a close eye on that grain and I'm not gonna spawn the jars until I'm certain is doesn't spread. Fingers crossed it is just a bit of bruised myc. Thanks for your input

it does happen sometimes but it's rare to see trich in grain jars. the only time i've seen trich in my own grain jar there were 5 other colors of mold growing in the jar. people usually only see it on substrates.

First off trich in grain jars is kinda rare as long as good sterile technique was used. Also, it seems like it may be bruising since from what I can see it doesn’t really look like a secondary growth. It looks like mycelia growing on/over the coloration.

Yeah my sterile technique is good, I'm quite anal when it comes to it. Once I take the jars out of the flow hood I wipe the jars throughly with a bleach soloution in front of the hood and then wipe down with iso. Culture's were clean too. Yes there's myc growing over the coloration, can myc grow over trich or will it avoid it or will the trich take over myc? Hopefully it is just brusing 👍
