Dried out base - Grow kit

Hi, I have a grow kit and I think the base has dried out, a space has developed between the base and the plastic container as you can hopefully see from the photos. It's been about 12 days since I started them (nothing has grown yet) and when I first started I soaked them in water in the fridge for about 20 hours. I have been misting twice a day and the bag is on a warming mat.
Interestingly, there is quite a bit of water between the bag and the plastic container (on the outside of the container, but inside the bag.)
Is this normal? Or has it dried out? And if so, what do I do about it?

Hey there bud welcome to the Shroomery!
First off from what I can tell it looks like you have a BRF cake rolled in verm correct? If so that's the wrong type of chamber for that approach. You will need a SGFC (shotgun fruiting chamber) if you want to go that route.
Secondly if it's ever dried out you just give it a light misting until the surface looks moist but not soaked. However I see you said you put it in the fridge. Putting mycelium in the fridge won't kill it, it will however slow down the growth and needs time to get back into action.
Third, do not ever use a warming mat. It has no place in this hobby. If temps are cold you should use a space heater that doesn't blow hot air to heat the surrounding area.
That fruiting bag is an idea that works but you need to have tiny holes so it can get FAE to grow. Typically a bag like that works best if you are spawning to coir or spawning from the bag you inoculated (if you ever decide to use a grow bag)
I suggest making a SGFC or a Water Tub (look up water tub tek my messiah), ditch the heating pad, and I also suggest looking into starting Agar so that you can make clean cultures. BRF works for sure, done it myself and it's not bad but you can get much better results if you make your own clean cultures.
Good luck man and keep doing research! You'll get the hang of it

While all of the above is true, I think lookintolearn missed that you're running a grow kit here.
It both sounds and looks like the heating mat, and potentially the bag being left open if it was, has caused your sub to dry out. Definitely shouldn't see it pulling away from the walls until after a flush.
Are you keeping the bag closed? How hot is the heating mat?
Transferring the whole cake to a SGFC or humidity chamber could be a good shout. If it's not dead already, you could get some fruits.
If you don't want to build anything you could: bottom water it drain off the excess after a few hours mist to help with surface conditions keep the bag closed (assuming it has holes in it for fresh air) ditch the heating mat and see what happens...
