Frustrated and a bit overwhelmed 1

Hey guys, here's the basic rundown of what's up.(sorry if This is too long)
First off, I wanna say that while I'm still confused about a lot of stuff, some of which I'm about to get into, that this site has been a treasure trove of knowledge over the past few months, and you guys all really kick ass for the most part and are extremely helpful and I love the community, yadda yadda, all that good stuff.
Anyways, after the classic mistake of buying a grow kit and lurking here to find why my first PF grow was so terrible, I went to the "getting started" section of the Shroomery and overloaded my brain with information on supposedly "proper" teks for a month and a half before deciding to ditch the pump/humidifier/heating pad and convert the grow kit to a SGFC, per basically every single Shroomery approved tek in the getting started/beginner section of the site, as well as the million posts/threads that popped up when I searched the forums for solutions to my problems.
But now that im about to birth 6 more jars in the SGFC in a week, and I thought I had a handle on pretty much everything in theory, I start randomly going down rabbit holes on recent posts and come to find everyone completely dogging on the SGFC and basically saying its trash?
I realize that a lot of the threads recommending the SGFC were a few years old at least, and I could be held accountable for not checking more recent posts, but the site pointed me in that direction from the get go and offered no other shroomery approved methods I can see for PF.
Did I fuck up? Should I start duct taping holes back up and make an MSG?( I literally somehow just found out about those after trolling the site for hours a day for 2 months)
IDK, its probably just me being foreign to forums and how they work nd I could just be ignorant, but I feel like i've been guided in the wrong direction by the site (not the community) towards outdated and inefficient methods, and I'm unsure what do do next.
My 6 jars are consolidating now and i've got anxiety about birthing them until I know how to take care of them properly.
On the plus side, I'm at home basically 24/7 to attend to them and mist if the SGFC proves to be as bad about overdrying as recent posts lead me to believe.
Ok rant over, sorry. I had more but im stoned and forgot. Oh well 🤷

It can all definitely be a bit overwhelming. Grow kits are indeed frowned upon.
SGFC are rather tricky in my opinion. I don't feel they are the best option for a new grower to get their feet wet. They have a tendency to dry out because people don't fill the tubs with cakes like they were designed for.
I was in your same position. Did cakes for my first grow and realized that I hated the SGFC design. I started reading up on other options and fell in love with Pasty's ez dial monotubs. On my next batch of jars I birthed the cakes and made them into a bulk substrate using one of the ez dial monotubs.
Check out the link in my signature for a full grow log.

Thanks for the tip, bud. I can't view the link til I get 5 more posts though. Will a mod get pissed if I just reply a few dots to my own thread to fill the gap?

you're not ages behind, in fact I think the humidity chambers and whatever a MSG is are fairly new adaptations to the same principle
you want a humid environment with lots of air exchange, SGFC do that by all the perlite holding moisture and slowly evaping, all the air exchange from the million and 3 holes you put into it
like mentioned, it was designed to be filled with cakes, not 1 or 2 it needs to be elevated
-------------------- All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I’m fine. Whatever you decide won’t really impact our survival Close your eyes, and do the best that you can

Sorry to hear it man. I'd highly recommend this process for your grows going forward:
pasty plates -> transfer to oat jars -> spawn to unmodded tub with coir substrate
You'll also want to create a SAB, bod has a tek on that too. He's pretty much the holy grail for noobs now that I think about it lol. It may sound overwhelming at first, especially starting with agar, but I promise this will be the easiest and most successful way to do things

Here's a thread you should be able to view that describes a similar process to what tiptrippy's grow log shows:

Thanks dudes 😊 I have absolutely zero cash to get any coir or anything to spawn to bulk, so I think I'll just go ahead and birth these to the SGFC in a few days and just tend to them lovingly and make sure they don't dry out. After all, I spent all that time poking holes in it with a red hot screwdriver lol. Speaking of, could I use this micropore I have to sort of dial in the FC to optimize humidity and just supplement the subsequent loss of FAE with extra fanning? Like I said, I haven't left the house in months really and have no plans to do so for at least a few more, so I'll always have an eye on it.
